Never. Dogs do not get periods. They do however come into heat (the complete opposite of a human period) approximately every 6 months and the heat cycle lasts for an average of 18-22 days.

chihuahua or any dog ( doesn't matter the breed) do not have periods but it's called a heat. heats last 21 days. tehy usually get them every 6 months unless spayed.

they will have it for one to two weeks about every five months or so. If it is the first period, it lasts quite a bit longer...
