Depends- I have a GE one from Wal-mart and yes,I decrease the temp by 50 degrees- I have done lasagna at 300 for 35 minutes, You just have to keep checking initially until you "know" your oven, and mine has always cooked a bit unevenly, so rotating the pan every 20 minutes is a must.

however, living in a basement apartment and limited space, i do love it and as a pretty decent and constant cook, rarely need to 'clean out" the actual oven( my extra cabinet) of pots and pans and use that, the convection oven cooks just about everthing.

You can cook anything in an oven. Hell you can cook a turkey in it. The question is if it'll taste good if you do. Microwaving only adds heat and cooks the product, you won't get any beneficial side effects like caramelization like you would if you grilled or fried it. etc. Microwaves are typically used for reheating already cooked foods, like leftovers, frozen dinners, frozen veggies, and sometimes things like hot chocolate, tea, coffee. Veggies can be "steamed" by microwaving them in a bowl with a small amount of water. Many times microwaves will include directions on the inside of the door. Also, when in doubt, product packaging will have instructions as well if it can be microwaved.

Many years ago we had one. I liked it. The one we had, you deducted 75 degrees from a regular recipe. But it is best to follow the convection oven recipe books.

Yes I have, I really do like them. I think that they cook more evenly.
