It might improve the texture of the turkey if you can let it sit in the refrigerator, unwrapped and uncovered, until you cook it (assuming you cook it in the next couple days), so it can dry out some. This technique is used by professionals with red meat and duck. It certainly won't hurt your turkey to dry out for a day or two.

No, you have to wash his you know what inside and out when you take him out of the bag, so it may as well be sooner. I would go ahead and remove him from the wrapper, thoroughly clean the bird inside and outside checking under folds of skin so you don't leave anything behind that's not wanted. After that you can place the bird in a deep pot of water and keep the pot covered in the refrigerator, just make sure to change the water several times between now and cooking time. I would keep the bird covered with foil or water until your ready to cook, so that it doesn't pick up odors or any bacteria.
What you felt may have been the juices of the turkey in side the packaging. It will be fine kept cold till Thanksgiving. Hope you and your family have a nice Thanksgiving dinner!

you have to wash him anyway..... just pop him back in the fridge.... and make sure when you wash him, you wash for an extra few minutes.... also.... dont forget to take the bag out of his butt before you stuff him and cook him...LOL.... I did that once!!!
