I have a dog his name is Baillie and we got him from the S.P.C.A he is an Anatolian Shepherd, they originate from Turkey. We never knew there was dog even called an Anatolian Shepherd. Did you ever here about this dog?? Do you have one?

The Anatolian is one of about 200 breeds either recognized by the AKC, or in the process of being recognized.
I've never owned one, but seen several at shows.
Here's the AKC page on Anatolians, which gives the breed standard. There are also links to the national breed club, which will be a good source of information about the breed. These are large, powerful dogs, so it becomes even more important that you learn as much about them as possible.

They typically look like a cross between a yellow lab and a German Shepherd. I've heard they're very selfless dogs who love being helpers/workers. Smart, strong and sturdy. All around good dogs - may need a lot of exercise and plenty of interaction.

I saw one the first time the other day in our local paper for sale,id never heard of them either but very pretty dogs:)

I came across the breed when I was deciding which dogs would suit my lifestyle. I don't own one but me and my pom were followed by (what looked like one) today. So handsome.

I've seen them in breed guides, but never in person. I like how they look, though, and most herding breeds make good pets.

I have a shih-tzu/poodle mix, and he looks like a cockerspaniel. He is very smart.
