No I do not find it to be dishonest at all. Christians do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A religion is a way of acting upon a belief through worship and fellowship with others who also have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
For illustration-A man is a Captain. He is responsible for a vessel which travels on water (Personal relationship with Jesus). The vessel could be an ocean liner, a yacht, (any religious practices) the type of vessel does not change his status as a Captain.

" Christianity isn't a religion. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ."
Preliminary conclusion: Intellectually honest.
However it helps to block out memories of heretic burnings, Spanish Inquisitions, and so on.
...
"Islam isn't a religion. It's about surrendering mind. body and soul to Allah."
Well, not that familiar with Islam.
Personally would prefer if it said: Islam isn't a religion. It's about surrendering all lethal weapons including Osama bin Laden to the United Nations.
Rephrased as a weapons handover, preliminary conclusion: Intellectually honest.
Also, it helps to block out memories of beheading Christians and Jews, holy war jihads, fatwahs, and so on.

Tricky one. The person who makes one of these statements may believe this wholeheartedly therefore their intellectual honesty would technically remain in tact. However, you also have delusion mixed in with this as well, don't you? It is impossible to say that Christianity isn't a religion. I do believe that their are individuals who do not belong to any denomination and therefore could legitimately make this a very honest statement. The same with Muslims. I think it really depends on the intention. I think the key for everyone is to find out if we are being honest with ourselves to begin with.

The first sentence warms my heart.
" Christianity isn't a religion. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ."
Jesus is my Lord, but also my friend!!!
God gave me free will, so I could CHOOSE to love Him, trust His word, and obey Him. He does not want robots!
Radical Islam does! That second sentence give me a very cold, ominous shudder.
"Islam isn't a religion. It's about surrendering mind." How very horrible!
Islam is not a religion of peace or freedom. As can be seen in most Islamic states, like Iran and Saudi Arabia, Muslim people have no freedom, and their leaders threaten the "free world" by actively supporting terrorism.
The prophet Muhammad did introduced monotheism to the Arab world of the 7th century.
So far so good. Through his teachings, later to become Islamic law, he established the Muslim religion.
Strict obedience to Allah's will, as communicated through the words of one man ... the prophet Muhammad ... is a cornerstone of the Muslim faith.
Muslims were duty-bound to conquer and convert the entire world as Allah's will was declared by (one opinion) Muhammad.
From the beginning, Muhammad used violence to establish his power and convert people to his new religion.
He and his followers supported themselves by raiding of honest trader's caravans.
http://www.americandaily.com/article/2987
After feeling betrayed by the Jews in Medina, he had all the men killed and the women and children sold into slavery.
Like so many cults, ONE man's opinion is strictly it. No tradition of theological debate.
The mixed blessing of our "fragmented" Christianity, at least shows that minds are at work!
Belief in God's Word is real, and human (not enforced).
Islam is the world's fastest growing ENFORCED "religion". No thinking required! No free choice involved!!!
The goals of today's Islamic fundamentalists are not different from those of the religion's founder.
They suppress freedom in countries they control and seek the conquest of the non-Muslim world.
The conduct of many Islamic leaders and their zealous followers proves there is a tyrannical and violent side to Islam. That is sadly true.
Islam is cruelly enforced, disavowing any logical analysis, either from inside or out!
When ANY one asks you to "surrendering your mind," you can bet you're in the clutches of a cult.
When ANY one demands blind obedience, even if they force you to cover your eyes, you'd be a fool not to peek.

You would be correct my friend.
It's all about Jesus. Not a church, religion or denomination.
If you refuse Jesus, then you've made your choice already. Jesus died for the whole world. Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be too late.
Anything that exalts it's self above the word of God is a lie. God has warned us in His word about false religions & prophets and they will come in the last days to deceive God's people. Hold fast to the word of God.

That's the whole appeal of the religions . "That no matter how busy God is doing whatever it is that God does ,that God will still find time for me and my little tiny insignificant needs -like winning football games or passing algebra tests"
How incredibly seductive is the idea that HE cares about ME because I am special to HIM .
When you think about it the creationist argument against evolution is actually about the blow to the ego that some people would have to endure if they accepted the fact that they were a simple [though magnificent] accident of evolution rather than a one-of -a -kind item handcrafted by their god.

the difficulty is creationists place self assurance in a human presumption that undermines their very own faith. Their notion that god is ruled via their guidelines. merely positioned Genesis states god made the earth in 6 days resting on the seventh day for this reason creationists state that the earth replaced into made in 6 x 24 hr sessions for the reason it quite is their know-how of what an afternoon is therefor it is going to be the comparable for God. This earth is billions of years previous many different creatures have habited it, many different approaches some final thousands and thousands of years some lasting longer have taken place to make this the planet it quite is at present. i don't think of creationists talk out of Christianity or faith yet contained in the bliss of lack of expertise because of fact its fits their view factor and that creates a convenience zone as long as you do not think of to stressful. Creationism isn't Christainity and for some to declare so is intellecutally cheating therfore your fact is fullyyt perfect

It's all a matter of semantics. The word "religion" means different things to different people. If people could agree on the definition of words like Religion, Faith, Love, Freedom, etc. we'd all know what we and others were talking about.
Sending you a smile to help pick up your day!

I find all such word-play dishonest. I have never found anyone who can explain why "a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny" or "generally a belief in a deity and practice of worship, action, and/or thought related to that deity" don't classify Christianity as a religion.

Yeah, it is a dishonest statement (the first one) but only because Christianity isn't the religion really. There are many religions within Christianity ... Baptist, Catholic, Mormon and so on ... but technically Christianity isn't the actual religion. Christians have only one common denominator, Jesus. The rest is completely different ... Baptists are NOTHING like Catholics lol.
But the second one is untrue, Islam is a religion.
