...I mean I wouldn't go to debate...only to sit and listen and learn

...even thought I would be doing it without the desire to become a Jehovah's Witness

It absolutely amazes me to read some of these answers.
I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
I was raised Baptist and after careful study of what is truly in the Bible was baptised as a Jehovah's Witness in 2001.

Faceless;
You're just wrong on so many things.

We love and praise Jesus for paying the rasom price for us and giving us an opportunity for the gift of life offered by God. We follow Jesus' example of teaching and witnessing because he said to do it. (Matthew 24:14) It is very hard to knock on a stangers door. I didn't wake up one day and think "Gee, I'll start a conversation with a stranger today about the Bible". It is important that the work be done. We are following Jesus' instructions.
We know Jesus was resurrected. How can we say that any clearer? We Love Jesus !

We study the bible verse by verse. For over 100 years we used the KJV, you are welcome to bring your "own" version to study with. Every Bible written in English is a translation. The KJV is a "version" of a translation. I personally am not fluent and comfortable speaking in the "Kings" language we shalt, and thou...
Trying to make enough room to unwind the original scrolls and learn the foreign language was just too difficult :)
I'm thrilled to have God's word accurately provided for me, the way I speak today.

We study each book of the bible indepth. We are currently in Revelations. What other church expains all the signs and symbols in Revelations? None that I am aware of.

We do not "require" our brothers and sisters to attend Bible Studies. It is the only way one will grow in accurate knowledge so if you truly want to draw close to God, it only makes reasonable sense you would "study". You are not put in "time-out" if you are not there :)
We realize that the others attending benefit by our comments and close association. We love being together.

The Watchtower is not our only Bible study. The WT is only a part of our Sunday meeting. It is a group discussion about a particular topic, unlike the church I attended growing up where the only person lecturing was the preacher. The definition of a "cult" is following one person. Hummmm
I never saw a person in the congregation of the church raise their hand and be brought a microphone so they could express their thoughts.
As far as reciting the answer it gives, there are paragraphs of information to read with scriptures to study and then questions to make you think.
That's how we, as humans, tend to learn.
I want to learn to think, learn how to dig out the deeper things, deeper thoughts in the scriptures, not just listen to what one man, the preacher or pastor or whoever, stands up there an tells me to think.

Jehovah is a loving God. Not all want to know him. I'll be the first to say that trying to live by His clean, upright standards isn't easy.
The world wants you to think that fornication, violence, drunkardness and such things are okay. How many people do you know that are going clubbing, getting drunk and hooking up and then saying they love God? Many do that.

Jesus warned that people would hate those that truly love him, that truly follow his teaching because they hated him first. John 15:19,20

The bible tells you at James 4:8 to draw close to Jehovah and he will draw close to you.

You are very welcome to attend bible studies at your local Kingdom Hall. You will see the love amongst God's people.

You will make new friends and you will really enjoy sitting in on the meetings. To those who oppose us in due time you too will change your mind about us. Just a matter of time when learning about Jehovah that you will begin to realize that Jehovah is the only ONE true God and you will become our brothers and sisters. Jesus is not Jehovah but his Son. Jehovah is greater than Jesus and the head of Jesus. Jehovah is not a Trinity god. for more info just go to your local Kingdom Hall and ask questions there they will happily answer your questions. Or you can go to the official website http://watchtower.org

Again the ones opposing us will in due time will become our brothers and sisters. Just like Apostle Paul, before he was an opposer, after he became a brother. Read the Bible about Paul. Have a nice day.

Jesus never said he was God. who was he praying to, not himself. Jesus always said that he cannot do anything without the Father in heaven. when you can baptized, don't they say it the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. so that tells you that they are not the same. Jehovah the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit is Jehovah's Active Force. the doors to any Kingdom Hall is open to anyone who wants to come in. also you can bring your king james bible and see we have the same words in your bible also. our bible just speaks the way we do. it is easier to read. I also have a king james bible here at home but I rather read my bible that speaks the way we do. no one will try to change your religion. you will see the love that we have for our neighbor. everyone seating together as one family. people who turned there back on Jehovah God and Jesus loved to slander us. don't listen to them or some who know nothing about us. we are not a cult, we worship Jehovah not a man. we live in our own homes in 236 lands worldwide. a cult live together. they need to learn the difference

Yes. It is by education that you learn and grow. What does the Bible say?

1John 4:1 orders us to test all inspired expressions (or beliefs) to see if they originate with God or not.

1Thess. 5:21 says to "make sure of all things."

Paul was delighted with the people in Beroea when after listening to Paul they "with great eagerness of mind, examined the scriptures to see if these things were so." (Acts 17:11)

Follow these guidelines and you will be fine.

Go... if you're confident in your beliefs you shouldn't have anything 2 worry about.

Think about this: if you know in your heart that the sky is blue and grass is green then nobody should be able to change your mind.
On the other hand, if you went through life 'knowing' the sky is green and grass is blue and some1 effectively proved otherwise, would it be wise of you to continue believing what you had previously or would you change your mind?

Everyone is welcome to attend. It is not a open forum discussion, we do have an organized schedule of what will be discussed. Some parts do have audience participation. The schedule is the same worldwide at all Kingdom Halls.

I don't think it's wrong. I think you would be simply educating yourself. As long as you don't go with the mind set for argument. Maybe this visit will streghten your beliefs, maybe the opposite. As long as you're an open minded individual, I don't see a harm in going. Just be prepared, however, that someone may approach you and inquire more about you and possibly offer a bible study.

It's really up to you whether you want to do that. Even if you truly are not interested in becoming a JW, they probably wouldn't object, as long as you are not disruptive.
You realize, of course, their interpretation of the Bible is very different from the classical Christian interpretations.
If you are the kind to be persuaded, they might persuade you.
If not, you will at least learn more about their beliefs.
For myself, I wouldn't bother, unless I had some specific reason for wanting to learn more about JW beliefs.

YES, You are more than welcome to atend any of Jehovah's Witnesses meeting.
You are cordially invited to attend any of our meetings.
You can go to watchtower.org and follow the directions and someone in your area will contact you. Or just go to one of the Kingdom Halls nearest you, again you are more than welcome. You will feel more than welcome once you go inside.

Also don't limp on others opinions. Go and find out for yourself.

Even though

Many have done just that what you are asking and found out for themselves and have been able to put all rumors to rest.

Right now in our book study, we are studying the bible book of Revelation. Chapter by chapter. This is once a week study.along with the other meetings we have.

It is right for you to seek out answers for yourself where ever you choose to do so. Remeber, no one has "ALL" the answers and you are your own boss. Seek out and study all that you can and then you choose which answer is right for you. It is between you and your GOD. No man can tell you what is right for you alone. Only your walk with your GOD can tell you that. Be true to your own heart and hold fast to your own trust in your own GOD in your own way. Do not let man and his traditions tell you where you can go to find your peace and harmony. All religions have good points about them as well as bad. Take what works for you and leave the trash behind. But do learn and try to understand lots of different faiths. It will indeed enhance your own belief system. And it will break down the religious walls that separate us all.
