how come when i ask atheists questions like, what's 1+1, they all answer 2? can't they think for themselves? i mean cmon, creationists have proven that 1+1+1=1. certainly, that takes quite an open mind to accept, not necessarily an intelligent mind, but an open one nonetheless.

to searcher, you obviously didn't learn about algebra. otherwise, you wouldn't keep making the same error. 1+1+1=3. in the example you gave, it would be simpler to write 1p+1a+1o=1d. confusing 1 for 1p would end up in a world of mess. one is a constant, the other is a variable. i think you need to go back to pre-algebra to brush up on this simple math concept.

Ah, sardonic satire... it will go largely unappreciated, but I understand the point you are making.

But yet a scientific theory based on evidence and facts is too hard for a creationist to comprehend. Oh yeah they think way outside the box. And God made Adam from the earth and Eve from his rib. Yep, they are some creative people.
I studied Boolean algebra when I went to college for computer programming too. Just because you toss out a formula that most people are not familiar with doesn't mean you are proving some grand point. Once you explained yourself most of them are like Oh Ok I see. Try explaining evolution to a creationist and see how open they are.

Because when you write 1+1=1 as arithmetic you are incorrect. 1+1=2.
But you, sir, are offering up a riddle. What you're actually trying to say is true+true=true. How clever.... But what does this have to do with the existence of God or an open mind?

Yes of course. All atheists are so close minded compared to those open minded Christians. As we all know, if you ask a Christian that same question, not a single one would answer 2. Thats just crazy. Who in their right mind would think 1+1=2? Thats such an old train of thought, I can't believe they still teach that in school. I am glad I don't have children being exposed to that nonsense. You have opened my eyes. I will now believe in whatever you tell me to believe.

It's just because they aren't open-minded enough. I mean, how close-minded do you have to be to INSIST on backing your beliefs up with logic and evidence? Sensible, open-minded people aren't like that, they're willing to see the Universe as it really is, without tying themselves down with things like reasoning and rationality. 1+1=2 is only supported by mathematical axioms and the basic logic of arithmetic, and only fools restrict themselves that way.

I'd rather be intelligent than your description of open-minded. It seems open-minded is supposed to mean believing things that are not true or making it up as you go along. Reality is only one way. Imagination doesn't count. There's nothing as closed minded as a religious person. They believe theirs is the only way and everyone else is going to hell. Who are you kidding?

If that were true then how come creationists don't have an "open mind" regarding evolution?

If your mind is open enough that your brain pops out, you went too far... :-P (Where is our obsessive friend? I haven't seen him all day with his pointed questions trying to trick atheists into admitting he's god.)
