Was there a Vietnam solder that 'First Blood' was actually based on?

I doubt you'll find a soldier that would make that claim. The "First Blood" Rambo, was a poor portrayal of an Army Special Forces soldier. You'll find that soldiers who have enough intelligence and personal ability to make it into SF have better since than to start a war against their own country.

Post Script: First Blood, and movies such as "Platoon" were Hollywood versions and demeaning portrayals of our nations soldiers. The real McCoy is far removed from their versions.

No, there was no one solider that the character in first blood was based on. John Rambo was based on the thousands of Vietnam veterans that returned home after the war. Not the one man army thing, but more from a social justice point of view. Many solders returned home and were spit on, called baby killers, and worse. This was the first and hopefully only time in American history that American solders were treated with such hatred, not by the enemy, but by the people they believed they were protecting, their fellow Americans.

N O!!!!!!!In the US Army, we frown upon any RAMBO type person because they can get people killed real fast!!!!!!!!!!!!
