I doubt God is upset about that. He was the first to instill freedom so it follows that He approves of the freedom of religion. I don't believe that even He would want religion jammed down anyones throat. The founding fathers were Christians, devoted to securing a free and safe environment for all mankind. The only reason this country prospered is because God approved of the free environment guaranteed by the US constitution.

IF recent disasters were caused by God's disaproval it would be over abortion and immorality not the separation of church and state.

All through history, when a government dictated the religion it became oppressive.

I would never agree to making this a Christian state government. Which Christian denomination would get to make the rules???????

It might not be one you would be happy with. Then what would you do?

God doesn't have to cause disasters, He only needs to stop protecting and allow natural events to occur.

God is not causing the earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, droughts, and volcanic eruptions that are so often in today’s news. He is not using these to bring punishment on certain peoples. To a large extent, these are caused by natural forces that have been operating since the earth’s creation. The Bible foretold great earthquakes and food shortages for our day, but that does not mean that either God or Jesus is responsible for them, any more that a meteorologist is responsible for the weather that he forecasts. Because these are occurring along with all the other things foretold in the composite sign of the conclusion of this system of things, they are part of the evidence that the blessings of God’s Kingdom are near.-Luke 21: 11, 31.

Humans often bear heavy responsibility for harm done. In what way? Even when given ample warning, many people refuse to get out of the danger area or fail to take needed precautions.-Proverbs 22:3; compare Matthew 24:37-39.

Maybe that god fella could come up with a less indiscriminate way of punishing people. Natural disasters kill people no matter if they are good or evil.

How about a more reasonable stance? Natural disasters are natural events that do not need a god behind them, angry or benevolent.

Omigosh, I hadn't thought of that! I wonder what caused the other 43 million natural disasters? Maybe god was angry about the lousy food served on airlines?

Papa: Good point. Weathermen should not be blamed for withholding their omnipotent powers to make the weather nice. Bad weather builds character, and weathermen are wise enough to understand that.

Jezebel: that would be easier if you'd change your avatar!

God is not anti Himself. The inspiration seems to be anti-religion; although I guess some people think they are being fair to exclude religion from public, it ignores an aspect of lives that a large percentage of people feel is important, a little suspicious that we can talk about anything but that in public. quote Thomas Jefferson declaration of independence "that all men are created equal" and that congress begins with prayer and has a chaplain.

Well hon, you hit the nail on the head when you called it "natural". This is how nature works, it's how God set it up to run perfectly.

If anything, I'd blame us, not God, for these disasters ... global warming, pollution, etc. We are the ones changing nature, not God.

Right before Katrina hit New Orleans, I had gone out to eat at McDonald's. These disasters are clearly god's wrath due to junk food.

It has nothing to do with God's anger- these disasters were predicted 2000 years ago as the birthpangs of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
