There are many ways to try and whiten the Gi. First, try lemon juice. Take 1 gallon of the hottest water possible, add 1/2 cup of bottled lemon juice, soak the clothes for 30 minutes or overnight. Then wash as normal.

You also can use automatic dishwasher detergent. Fill a bucket with hot water, add 2 tablespoons of dishwasher detergent, soak for 30 minutes or overnight. Then wash as normal.

There is a whitening agent called Bluing.(in the laundry aisles at the supermarket) Follow the instructions on the bottle. It works great. It takes out all the yellow. (This is the one I recommend)

Not sure what kind of agents will get it clean if bleach didn't do it, but you should be honored that your gi has turned brown. Supposedly, in the old forms of Japanese Jujutsu, both the gi and the belt/obi turned from white to brown to black, based on the amount of training done.

We use the All color safe bleach-it works for us.
Take it to a dry cleaner..they should be able to help you.

When you test tell your instructor and the board members about your Gi top being old (like some belts) and comfortable. When you test out you can retire it with your belt.

Try simply washing out the sweat with water/normal laundry cycle before bleaching.

Try using Yellow-Out. You can buy it from your grocery store. It should make it white again.

Try laying it out in the sun. I believe it's called sun bleaching.
