i know isoniazid that it can cause decrease in vit. B6.


but i am really confuse if the side effects of refampicin. is it also the side effect of refampicin to decrease vit B6?

by the way, refampicin and isoniazid are drugs for tuberculosis patient.

please this is our assignment. and i really need it. you can give me some links where you got your answer.

Hi Sidrey. This is outside my area of expertise, but I did a quick search on Pubmed. It appears that rifampicin does not affect B6 metabolism. However, as you noted, isoniazid does, and, these two drugs are often given together. Note: both are hepatotoxic and slow - acetylators have increased toxicity risk.
