This girl in my History class walks in complaining about being burned by a tanning bed, so this guy mumbles "skin cancer" and she hears him. She turns to him and says "Who cares if I get skin cancer, I can get it removed, and I'll cover the scars with make-up, at least I'll be pretty and tan. I would never want to be pale like you." WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

If you're one of these people...um, why?? Why do people think they have to be tan to be good-looking? It makes me so annoyed.

People get to caught up in what the "media" tells them they should look like to be considered beautiful and what gadgets will make them "cool". You know the whole "gotta keep up with the latest trend" thing. That 's how are country works so that consumerism can thrive. Because it's mostly the stupid people that get the caught up in what the media tells them they should be like. Plus they're self centered ,stuck-up and unless they're rich they won't get far in life because the "REAL" world is a harsh place and there is no room for stupid people.It seems like CA is full of these type of "stupid" people.Then again there are a million types of stupid and a millions of reasons for it.

I don't know. Pale skin I think is actually coming into style now. A lot of actresses are going pale in movies and in photos. I guess they're still stuck on other celebs being tan, like the hoochie ones. Lol.
She just seems like a needy high-maintenance B!. Some people are really into celebrity crap and read those magazines that say you have to be tan to be pretty. She must be really influenced by the media just like most of America. Forget her she's the one that's going to have gross wrinkly skin when she grows up from laying in the tanning bed too much.
I have very very fair skin and I personally like natural colors of skin. Those fake ugly orange and bronzed tans are so disgusting to me. In the end, you and that guy are the ones taking care of your skin the most. Ha. Makes me laugh. She seems like a real loser!

i no a girl who went to a tanning bed and the man locked the door on it and anyway when it was time for her to get out the door wouldn't open the fire men didn't get it open for 3hours her back was burnt to a crisp and she suffers from terrible skin cancer and they said she hasnt long to live =( it was her first time using the bed too

Read old books and pale skin was actually considererd more beautiful in the old days, since tanned skin meant you were a peasant worker outside in the sun.
So pale skin was rarer and therefore more cool to have.
That's why 'Snow White' was the most beatiful chick in the world, with pale skin.
Now we are mostly inside workers so tanned skin is rarer and therefore more fashionable.

What's worse though, she'll never get cancer. Someone who knows they will look like worn leather and does it once in their life will die from getting some weird skin cancer.
