I am planning a trip to New York from January 3rd thru the 7th. Is it too cold (Im from Texas)? Is this a bad time to visit? I have never been and I am wondering if it's worth my time and money to visit during this time of year. Any suggestions on what there is to do and see? How much money should I take?

Were college students (on a budget) looking for a good nightlife in the Big Apple.
Museums are cool too.

well in the january for the new york city is going too be cold for sure. But things to do for nyc is always ALOT. For example: you gotta go visit the central park Ice -Rink, take the 1,9 train and get off at the columbus circle. the Rockfellar center The top of the rock at the 47th street. The madsion square garden at the 34th street. The time square at the 42. And while you are there go visit the Broadway shows. THe lion king!! and if you are still not satifised go for the museum of the natural history at the 82nd street. And there is still more, the empire state building is great but make sure you wear lots of clothes because it's gonna be windy for sure. Make sure you get to the top. And what else?? The radio city Chirstmas Show! at the 34th street! Also... wanna go visit the downtown?? go to southstreet seaport at the sundays!!! and come to CHINATOWN and enjoyed our chinese dim sum!!! and go to soho, union square, and memorial world trade center ground.. If you are still not convinced and wants to be more active,, then go to the bronx and visit the Bronx zoo, you can take photos, camal rides and lots more. If you enjoyed nature take a ride to Our famous bear mountain at the upstate. Such a great sight~!!! if you think that you will spend alot of money on all of this stuff then you are wrong... the central park is a park so it's free. The bronx zoo are free on the wednesdays. the rockafeller center is free you just need to go there. the broadway shows are cheap if you are willing to seat in the far away seats. The ice rink for 1 person will cost about $10 if you have your skating shoes. And man come down and visit us. Oh yeah make sure you bring your cameras. And if you are here i suggested you buy a metro card, city subway maps(they are Free just pick up at the train station) and those zaggat survey guides to great places and restuaurants.
good luck!

Almost The same things any other time of year. January in NYC can be cold, so bring warm clothes, hat, gloves. What types of thing do you like, NYC has so much to do it is impossible to make a full list. Empire state building, Chrysler building, grand central, statue of liberty, time square, museums galore. Central park, east & west village, theater of ALL kinds. Theme restaurants, ethnic, or fine dinning. Shopping , sports, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Nets, Knicks, Music stores, bars and local bands. etc....

yes, it will be cold... but it is definitely worth the experience. i go to NYC every year around the holidays (December) and there is ALWAYS stuff to do! you can go ice skating, shopping, Bring a lot of money!! lol you can take a horse and buggy ride, since i go in December, my family and i take pictures in front of the HUGE Christmas tree each year. some times we go to the saint Patrick's cathedral, (its very nice), we go to the NBA store. (amazing store if you are an NBA fan), we also go to this huge toy store called FAO Schwartz. trust me you will want to take a look inside!!! don't forget your good walking shoes and your earmuffs, scarf, gloves, and a hat. especially your camera!!! trust me... you will want to go back again another time. maybe to see a Broadway play or something!

well have fun and i hope you enjoy the great experience! :)
