If you are looking for Old Testament inspiration, Genesis chapter 9 is always helpful. Exodus 34:14 will provide some insight into the personality of god. Leviticus 26:14-38 is useful when it comes to remembering the goodness of god. If you want a story for the kiddies, try 2 Kings 2:23-24 If you are looking for an exercise in cross referencing try comparing 2 Kings 19 with Isaiah 37 Psalms 47:2 is another good insight into the personality of god. Psalms 137:9 is another good message for the children The entire book of Solomon's Song is pure inspiration. And now on to the New Testament Matthew 10:34-36 provides good insight into the mission of Jesus. Luke 12:37-48 Jesus teaches an important lesson about discipline Luke 14:26 Jesus teaches the importance of family values Acts 20:10-12 tells us how inspirational Paul was as a preacher. Those were just a handful of my favorite inspirational bible passages. If you need some more, feel free to contact me.

I would not give him Bible verses, as he's unlikely to be receptive to them, now; they might only be annoying to him. It might also be that Christianity is not the religion for him. If so, that's okay. The paths are many; the Light is one.
What started me back on the path toward God was reading some science fiction short stories by Zenna Henderson. They are collected into two books--'The People: Pilgrimage' and 'The People: No Different Flesh.'
The deity of The People (who are humanoid aliens) is called 'The Presence,' and the way it is described, this deity is a very beautiful approximation of God, while also having a different feel.
Maybe seeing God presented this way will help your friend to get a feel for what God and worship are like, as it did for me.
Good luck!

Please don't listen to all the nay sayers that will only cloud the issue here. There are so many denomonations today that stress the "Feeling" part of salvation as being the "Sign" or proof that you have been saved and when this fails to happen, they simply give up thinking its all a lie. The bible doesn't promise us the "feeling" or any "sign" only a promise that when you have fulfilled the requirements set forth by GOD, you will know you are saved. It won't just be an emotional feeling, it will be the knowledge that you have done what God requires of all of us. The feeling you will get then is knowing God has entered your name in the Book of Life and if you remain faithful till death, you will enter into the mansion he has prepared for the faithful. Please read the scriptures provided below and encourage your friend to read them with you as well. All you can do is plant the seed and God will give the increase. I Corinthians 3:6.

Ephesians Chapter 5 Verse 22-24
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Exodus Chapter 21, verse 20:
If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.
Hey, I didn't come up with these. They're in the Bible. These words are the Gospel; the Word of the Lord.
You can try to persuade your friend to be a Christian if you want to BUT if your friend tries to dissuade you from Christianity the Bible instructs you to do the following:
Deuteronomy 13:10
And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Start with LeaveHimAlone 4:32, and then move on to BTFO 3:14. If that doesn't work and his common sense is still fighting you, use OMGbelieveinJesusNOW 2:26 - 2:52.
Warning: OMGbelieveinJesusNOW is not to be used on small children, women who are pregnant or who could possibly become pregnant, smokers, anyone over the age of 45 or at risk for heart disease or lung cancer. This warning is extended to include anyone with a brain, excluding those who have previously undergone lobotomies. Keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.

If your friend lost faith, then he's not going to be interested in Bible verses. Maybe your friend is the one who is right.

Did he really believe from the begining? If so, he CANNOT lose his faith. He's just been exposing himself to wrong stuff.
Speak the scriptures to him as though he was still professing his faith. He'll get back up again.
"Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage"
"For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?"
"..in Christ we have escaped the corruption that is in the world..."
can he not see the corruption in the world?
Incase he is analysing God with human wisdom (like I almost started doing once):
"We speak wisdom among them that are mature; not in the wisdom of this world but the wisdom of God, comparing spiritual things with spiritual" He cant measure God, its by faith.
Pray for him too.

Say nothing at all.
If you are really his friend, just continue to be so. Show some respect for his views. You might learn something.
If you are only his friend if he follows Jesus, you need to read 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 John again, not him, (seriously).
It is normal for people to struggle with doubts. Jesus understood that and never excluded anyone.
Remember that.

Get him a copy of "Lord Of The Rings" dear and rejoice that your friend was able to get rid of his schizoid delusional mental disorder. That's a good thing.

Don't shove bible verses down his throat. Talk to him about it, as a friend. If he's content not to believe, respect his decision and hope that later he'll come round.
