I had a knee reconstruction 21 years ago. The rehab took 9 months (but I believe it is much faster now). I agree with the first reply. Consult your surgeon or physiotherapist.

Yeah, I asked my Doc and he said he didn't recommend it. But I was feeling like a champ after about 5 1/2 or 6 months so I figured I'd give it a shot. I took it easy (no moguls, jumps, etc.) and had no trouble. The hardest thing was trying to take it easy, I was just wanting to RIP IT UP! I managed my self-discipline and had a pretty good time, followed up with my doc again and explained to him what I'd done and he actually gave me some drills to do on my skis as part of my therapy.

Oooh....I blew my ACL in April '06 and didn't have it repaired. I skied over 30 days last year starting in mid-December.
The surgery complicates things, and your doctor should be the one who tells you when to go back to the hill.
FYI: I mostly telemark, so I bend my knees a lot. The few days I used my regular skis I was in a lot of pain, but not at all when I telemarked. My doctor told me this was common due to the torque on the knees in a standard Alpine turn. (My doctors are US Ski Team doctors very familiar with ski injuries.)
Personally, I think if you have a full range of motion, the incision has healed, you have a brace, and you can put full weight on your bad leg you should be ready to go. Even w/o surgery, my PT and doc said if I could put full weight on the leg and had no mobility issues I was good to go. I wear a brace and had ZERO problems last year...on telemarks. The days I had to use the Alpine boards I just popped a few extra Ibuprofins.
Good Luck!

You should probably consult your physician on that. Everybody heals differently and it depends on how aggressive your rehab is. But seeing as it typically takes up to a year to regain all of the strength in your knee I highly doubt your doctor will think it is a good idea for you to go skiing seeing as you are not even 4 months removed from the surgery.

in case your acl is torn you will desire to have it mounted in case you will play activities. it is not correct how long that is been the drs are going to would desire to replace it any way. i'd recommend getting it executed in the past than later in case you preserve playing activities. in case you tear any of the different 3 considerable ligiments in that knee the surgical operation would be end slightly greater painful and restoration time would be longer.
