Call someone from inside the office and ask them to cover for you for 5 minutes so you can go pee. There's no reason that you shouldn't be able to go to the bathroom if there's someone in the office who can cover for you!!!
Hope you make it in time!

I worked alone sometimes in a highly restricted office. My boss said that if I was alone, all my breaks had to be taken at my desk. I could bring in lunch,& snacks and eat there, or read the paper for a few minutes. Have coffee there.
If I had to go to the bathroom, I was allowed to leave the office unattended and bring a walkie talkie with me, so I could still stay in touch with people from other depatments. Also a key to the room, in case the door accidentally shut. Run into the bathroom, take care of business, run back.
If it should happen that I knew that I'd be in the bathroom a little longer, I could call a guard to stay in the office.
My boss knew that beng a human being, I'd need to use the fascilities at least once durning my 10 hour shifts.
I betcha your boss would understand if you got someone to cover for you for a few minutes. Better to do that than to sit there and make a mess at your reception desk.

Definitely noticed. I'm an office manager for a small company, and also the receptionist, etc. I have only part-time help in that department, and I have to manage two route drivers (with no authority to discipline them in any way), and oversee a plant, where no one can hear the intercom system if someone calls. We definitely feel your pain out here!

Well, I think it depends on the company's personel management. I used to work for a company where I was the assigned person to replace the receptionist on her 15 minutes breaks, lunches, and whenever she had to leave her desk.

Count your blessings, honey. I'm a receptionist too, and I swear I was only hired to be a go-fer girl. I'm hardly ever at the front desk and when clients walk in and see no one sitting up front, what do they do? Walk to the back without permission! And who gets in trouble for it? You guessed it! ME!! I really do wish I could sit up here all day long...
We should start our own receptionist support group, LOL!

Are you serious?? For what kind of company do you work? I work at a law firm, and our receptionist is constantly emailing the secretaries to sit for her while she runs to the bank, runs to her car to get something, etc. She always calls me and asks, "Can I go potty?" and of course I say yes. :) I think you need to talk with your HR manager and have him/her come up with some type of relief schedule. For example: Between 1 - 2 p.m., Julie has to sit for you if you should have to run to the toilet, you need a drink of water, etc. From 2 - 3 p.m., Karen sits for you, etc.

What does this question have to do with "Boats & Boating"? Besides, who cares if people hang out in the bathroom stall for what you perceive as "hiding". Perhaps they are attempting to get away from everyone and get some peace and quiet for a few minutes.

You are putting your health at risk and if no one in the office can cover for a 5minute potty break they can be held liable for any permanent health issues this can cause. I did reception for many years and never went without a potty break so call your office manager and get a break!

call someone in the office to watch for you while you go. BTW, it's against the Geneva Conventions to prevent prisoners of war from being able to go to the bathroom. What makes your bosses think THEY can stop people going?
