Age 18, received HS Diploma,
Vision in -top half of left eye is complete blindness ;
Vision in -bottom half is 20/400(not correctable by lenses) with no peripheral vision.
-Right eye 20/40 correctable with lenses to 20/10.
I asked my question to an Army recruiter over the phone, who responded that it was for "the doctor to decide."

Here's the standards for corrected vision:
20/20 in the better eye. 20/400 in the other.
20/30 in the better eye. 20/100 in the other.
20/40 in the better eye. 20/70 in the other.
But, it is your lack of peripheral vision which will disqualify you.

Probably not, but there is a chance. You should go see the recruiter in person or look up your local MEP (military entrance processing station) and give them a call. That is where the doctors work who decide whether or not you qualify.

You MIGHT be able to get in, very doubtful though. I would try anyway though, the Army is looking for more and more people everyday.

then you have your answer already. They will examine you when you are attempting to join and you will know when you either pass or fail the examination.

no, the recruiter will pull your chain to get you to sign up, but MEPS will find out and you will get booted
