The Secret of Living
The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.
— Psalm 25:14
Have you ever been semi-listening in on someone's conversation? Not intentionally, of course, because you would never do that. Maybe you were in a restaurant and your table was right next to someone else's. Maybe you were talking to the person you were with or reading. You weren't really listening, but then you heard the magic word. Someone said, "I am going to tell you a secret right now. No matter what, I don't want you to tell anyone else this secret. . . . "
What did you do? Did you put your hands over your ears? No. If you're like most people, you listened more carefully. We all love to hear secrets. We want to know the inside story. Even if someone is a complete stranger, we are still interested in his or her secret.
God has a secret that He wants to declare to you. The Bible says, "The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him" (Psalm 25:14). In many ways, this isn't really a secret, because it is plainly declared in Scripture. Unfortunately, because so few people have opened up the Bible to see what it says, they have missed out.
This is the secret of making life more full and meaningful. It is a secret that can help you avoid untold misery and heartache. You might even say it is the secret of living. We find it in Ecclesiastes 12:13, where Solomon says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all."
That is what it all comes down to. That is what is going to keep you on track for God's plan for your life.

good question. We "concern" G-d because of the fact he's a ingesting fire. you're a sinner. he will burn you to a crisp. He detests sin. besides the undeniable fact that, (this could make you 10x happier for Jesus) Jesus has made you righteous adequate to stand earlier G-d and be judged and stay. you're lined via the appropriate sacrifice. yet do away with Jesus for a 2d......wow, thats scarry. concern G-d? great happy for Jesus? desire so. So on account which you're so with a bit of luck see the phobia, then the affection is easy. John 3:sixteen is why Jesus got here. G-d created all...you adore your loved ones, suitable? Loving is easy. Fearing Him takes particularly understanding. desire that's smart, if no longer, email me! reward David

I think a lot of people, including some that answered your question has misunderstood with fearing God really is. It is a covering fear, like you would fear a criminal or murderer. It is more of a reverent awe. For instance- through Christ we can boldly approach His Throne, however we must never approach Him flippantly or without the awe and respect and worship He deserves.

No, I fear his Father. Remember how in the Old Testament he turned Saul into salt simply because he turned around? The God of the Old Testament was anything but loving.

Yes and very well put.
However, through loving Him in a relationship, you want to do what is pleasing to Him, respect Him and Honor Him.
Fear also means respect. We respect Him because He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings!

[[Keep in mind, I'm an atheist, but am assuming the role of the Christian in this question, in order for it to be written in a way that people will easily understand.]]
I'm not sure about the rest of you, but in my experience, every young child experiences the fear of a "monster" under the bed, or in the closet.
A child has no proof that it exists.
The child is afraid of it.
The child in question believes, truly and fully, that the "monster" is there.
Now consider this...
We have no proof that God exists.
We fear God.
We believe, truly and fully, that God is there.
Hrm...interesting.
When our children fear the monster under the bed, we help them to understand that it does not exist, and we comfort them.
But when our child fears God, we encourage it.

Are you reading my mind?
This is why Im afraid to admit whether or not I believe in God. If im wrong to believe in it and fall under the control of religion, I would have wasted my life. If Im wrong to NOT believe in God, well....I do like warmer weather....
I honestly believe the religion is a way to control the masses and a pretty effective one two.
It is based on fear. Do wrong and you will forever stuffer. Do right and you be rewarded forever. = Boogey monster eats bad people. ITS the same THING to a child. The only difference is they still believe it as they grow up and it turns to faith.
FAITH=FEAR

having been raised in a Democratic Republic it's not in my political programming to even acknowledge kings and lords.
i may fear a fascist takeover of our government by greed driven corporate plutocrats but i have no fear of lords.
PS. your proselytizing is very tedious.
