Because grapes don't have a face- and didn't come from something with a face. They are mostlly water and natural sugars.

What's the point of a grape? Why does the plant go to all the trouble and expense of making a fruit like that, when it could just make the seed and be finished? Once you have some ideas, think about whether protein would be necessary for such a purpose, or whether the plant could get by with cheaper, or less important, stuff.

They do contain protein, mainly in the pips.
