I'm a last minute preparer and just trying for some new ideas as to what dish you're preparing for

1. Appetizers
2. Main Course
3. Dessert

Also, any special tradition with kids? Website with ideas?
Thanks everyone, I'll be sure to print this out as it is unrelated to religion and will be reported.

RedQueen - It's not the size of the kitchen that counts but what you do with it and your meal sounds splendid, I plan to inject some of your menu into mine :-)

For the first time ever, I get to do the holiday dinner. I'm both excited and nervous, because I have a really small kitchen. This should be an experience, and here is what I am serving.

Appetizers:

Vegetable tray and Marzetti's Ranch Dip. Veggies include celery, carrots, mushrooms, pepper strips, broccoli, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes.

Assorted crackers and a cheese ball.

Main Course:

Roast turkey with traditional bread stuffing, and a small, spiral sliced ham. Reames frozen noodles cooked in turkey broth. Mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, barbecue green beans (recipe to follow in edit). Homemade cranberry sauce (from the back of the Ocean Spray package).

Desserts:

Homemade apple pie (from any cookbook) with cinnamon ice cream. (Simply soften vanilla ice cream enough to stir in cinnamon to taste, and refreeze.)

Cherry Supreme (recipe to follow).

Brownies (for the kids-Pillsbury Supreme).

Cherry Cheesecake (Jello mix, comes complete)

We have the 2 cherry desserts because everyone loves cherries, but not everyone in the family likes cheesecake. This way, I cover all the bases.

I usually cook the Thanksgiving meal, but this year we are going to some friends house. No family close by. I rarely use recipes when I cook, but I do follow one for this fabulous shrimp dip:

1 Can Tomato Soup
8 Ounces Cream Cheese
1Cup Hellman's Mayonaise
1 Medium Onion Minced
1 3/4 Cup Chopped Celery
2 Cans Small Shrimp (4 oz), rinsed & drained

Warm soup, cream cheese, & mayo. Stir until smooth. Add all other ingredients. Make a day in advance. Chill. Serve with crackers. This recipe makes loads of dip!

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit for me personally. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to slice back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
