They will issue a new card. You need to take your drivers license and his birth certificate to the social security administration office and fill out a form. They'll as a few questions to verify you're his mom and you'll get a new card in the mail in 2 weeks.
It's near impossible to get a new number issues. My daughter is adopted, and we had to fight hard to get a new SSN for her, even though her biological father had taken out bills using her old one.

You can get a replacement card free from the Social Security Administration in the event you lose your card. The same rule applies to children
To obtain a new card for your child, you must complete an application for a Social Security card (Form SS-5). The link is included below. Take the completed form to your local SS agency along with identifying documents.
From what I can tell, you're limited to three replacement cards during a year, and ten replacement cards over the course of a lifetime.
