I know and like this girl - we went out on one date - which we had to reschedule a couple of times to even accomplish.

A week later I asked her out on a second date and gave her like a week notice for it. She accepted enthusiastically.

Today, she's claiming that she suddenly has to work tonight and needs to cancel.

Now, I know what she does and her job is flexible - with a weeks notice she certainly could have made this work so what this says to me is that she's just not interested and I'm fine with that but why not just say so?

I was planning on taking her to see a band we both like at a small club. I still want to go.

My instinct says that I should tell her - "don't sweat it - I can take someone else" - which I certainly can - she's not the only girl I'm dating and I know that at least one will jump on the opportunity.

But the question is - Is that too harsh? I do like her but I want her to know that if she wants to date me that she needs to take this a little more seriously.

She doesnt sound too enthusiastic about dating you. I would just cut her loose.

Tell her thast you will take someone else. Don't say it mean buy nonchalantly.Try this. Oh, OK. no problem, just figured it would be a good time. I can ask someone else. If you keep in mind the nonchalant part this can help in the future. By you saying this in this way it shows she was your first choice but you are not going to dwell on the fact that she is not going - there are other people you could go with. It shows you like her but she don't have you wrapped around her finger. Kind of a take it or leave it attitude - we could go or not - no big deal. A girl needs a little challenge, play it off right she will be asking you out on the next date. After the concert when you talk to her say something like we had a great time, wish you were there it would have been even better. Again, it shows you're interested but you still have a good time with or without her

Did you alreadly cross the line of this being serious if you're dating anothing girl? You said it yourself she's not the only girl you're dating, or is this so-called other is just a friend who can be a pontential back-up.

Anyways, try to tell her first that she needs to take it seriously, and that she should make time for the two of you. If she doesn't head to plan B.

no, tell her you really want to go, and you are going to go with or without her, and see what her response is, if she has a i dont care attitude then just leave her alone, since you have other women attracted to you

'My instinct says that I should tell her - "don't sweat it - I can take someone else" '

I'd go with your instinct here.
