In science the word theory has a different meaning than it does for the average person. A theory has observations, evidence, and facts to back it up. Theories are an explanation of how and why something is the way it is. The Theory of Gravity for example explains what causes gravity. The Law of Gravity simply states what gravity does. The apple falls when you let go. A theory does not become a law. If anything a theory is higher on the pecking order than a law.
Evolution is not a guess. It has observations, evidence, and facts backing it up. Scientist have observed evolution in smaller and simpler organisms. They know it happens, they can watch it and measure it.
Does anyone else have a hard time understanding how so many people can put on blinders when it comes to science that doesn’t support their religious belief systems?

this is something that never fails to amaze me, that so many people can close their eyes to scientific fact. I don't think it is that they are incapable of understanding it, they are just unwilling, which is most baffling! Why would so many people CHOOSE to remain ignorant?

that's what technology says and that's what they practice regardless of the shown fact that it rather is a lie its not the working concept its a gamble because of the fact fossils are constantly proving their working theories incorrect examples a million) dinosaurs did not evolve into birds 2) life did not initiate in the sea's 3) the age of the earth replaced right into a assumption in line with no genuine information 4) neanderthals have been unintelligent and grunted and did not think of. cutting-edge discovery's have proved what they taught as actuality is incorrect. there are various many greater that teach those are merely guesses talked approximately as working theories yet each and each new shows teach them incorrect.

They dont want to believe - I think this is the key here.

But your right.. a theory isn't an 'opinion' - its something that has a great deal of scientific credibility to it. An idea has to stand up to massive amounts of testing, criticism, and attempts to disprove it before it can even be considered a valid theory. Most people who disagree with evolution use the word 'theory' to make it seem like its some sort of wierd tale of science fiction than valid scientific thought.

It does strike me as very strange to the point of absurdity that th every people who demand the most rigorous proof of a will proven theory yet take as total truth; a book which has been written and cobbled together over a thousand years or so; which has been translated, edited, and censored so many times; has many proven errors in the translation (666 is indeed 616 etc.), it defies belief.

They cannot distinguish between a hypothesis and a theory

AND THEN THEY WANT US TO BE FORCED TO BELIEVE IT!!!!!

I respect your faith and religious fervor in the theory of evolution but the observations do not match the claims. As a science, I believe that evolution will follow alchemy and astrology as fanciful scientific theories.

Laurel J, Adaptation and the allelle frequency of mutations have nothing to do with evolution as evolution suggest that there will be transitions of life between species. Doesn't happen! Sorry.

Yes, I do! I think the human psyche was made to accomodate both truth and fact, religion/philosophy and science, and I don't understand why people insist on conflating them or insisting that one contradicts the other. The fact that science does not mention god does not mean it wants to negate god.

Evolution has been proven. It simply means that organisms change over time to adapt to their environment. If that threatens your faith or your god, then I respectfully submit to you that, as a Christian once told me, "your god is too small."

Since all the facts support evolution, Creationists are left with a collection of deceptions to fight reality. Semantic fallacies are among their least immoral.

The people who don't understand that, don't WANT to understand it. They latch onto this "it's just a theory, it can't be proven" nonsense because it gives them an excuse to dismiss the whole concept. There's really nothing you can do to change their minds, unfortunately.

Evolution is a theory, not a law. This means there is not enough evidence to back it up as a law.

You must accept that, by and large, believers are less well educated than non-believers. It is therefore far easier for them to believe in a sky fairy as taught by parents and church than it is to wade through books on evolutionary biology and cosmology.
