When did your child stop calling you mommy/daddy and go to mom or dad. My 11yr old calls me mommy still but my 4yr old likes to just call me mom. Mom to me just sounds so plain and yucky while mommy sounds like this upbeat person with a lot of character at least to me anyway.
so how old were your kids when they stopped the mommy/daddy and moved staright to mom or dad?

My children are 7&8. They still call me mommy. My son called me mom the other day for the first time and I asked him to still call me mommy. I explained to him that it made me feel special. The truth is, it's scary to hear them call me mom. I guess I think about they're growing up to fast and I'm trying to hang on to every little bit of them I can. They grow up to fast!

My two boys are age 6 and almost 3. They both call us mommy and daddy. I'm 23 and I still call my parents mommy, and daddy. Unless I'm being serious with them then its mom and dad. Sometimes I call my mom mother. Times like I know she's done something like not taken her medicine/not followed doctors orders, done or said something that really shocked me.

No. However, it IS important to try and think through the mind of a child when considering possible accidental nicknames. I mean, Lia is definitely not one. Amelia doesn't have any automatic nicknames - all options have to be pushed, either by the parent or the child themselves. There are many names that do not have nicknames. But there are also many names that seemingly don't have nicknames, but can be shortened or lengthened. And then there are nicknames that have nothing to do with the child's actual name. There are long names with no nicknames (Arianna, Arielle, Tabitha), and short names with nicknames (Kate, Rose, Grace). There are names with similar random words (Aubrey-Auto, Carl-Carbo), and names with obvious meanings or associations (Scarlet-Red, Summer-Sunny). I think it's possible to find nicknames for anything, if you look hard enough. And for that reason, the only time a possible nickname would make me avoid a name is if it was the automatic and obvious nickname.

My girls are 11, 8 and 4 and they use both. Sometimes they use my first name if I do not respond to mom or mommy right away.

my girl is 13 and she still calls me "Mommy" and "Mama" sometimes. There's nothing wrong with whatever your kids call you. Even if it is just "mom" that's the only person they are ever going to call mom.

my friend would like to answer this ? here she goes.........
My children do not call me mom or mommy they call me by my first name. Many people have told me that it is disrepectful, but it doesn't bother me at all. They hear others call me by my name and they copy them. I think that its up the child what they call you, after all no matter what name they use you will always be there mother.

sounds right, my 2 year old sometimes just says mom instead of mama, i only remember my siblings and i calling our mother mar, but dad on the other hand was referred to as daddy right up til he passed away, we were all adults with children of our own, funny how it works that way
