I just received a message through my antenna that tells me not to question Will Smith.

Some religions do sincerely try to follow the Bible in some areas. Yet they cling to false doctrines and, if a Bible teaching is not convenient or comfortable, they readily adjust it to conform to their own standard rather than the other way around. No. If there were, I would be a part of that religion. Jehovah's Witnesses uphold Bible teachings and principles using any Bible, despite the tired, oft-repeated canard concerning their New World Translation. Is there some special ‘Bible the world has used since 90 A.D.’? No. Moreover, as one poster kindly pointed out, Jehovah's Witnesses were using the King James and teaching the same fundamental Bible doctrines long before they published their New World Translation. They still use the King James Version with those who seem to swear by it. Do they chop off their hands and gouge out their eyes when they sin? No. Did Jesus really tell his followers to do that? No. Does the Bible teach that all Christians must personally preach the gospel and make disciples? Yes. Do Jehovah's Witnesses do that? Yes. Do other religions do that? No. Does the Bible teach that those practicing fornication in the congregation must be removed? Yes. Do Jehovah's Witnesses do that? Yes. Do other religions do that? No. Does the Bible teach that all Christians are to be no part of the world? Yes. Are Jehovah's Witnesses part of the world? No. Are other religions a part of the world? Yes. Three examples, among oh so many, to show that Jehovah's Witnesses uphold the Bible’s teachings and principles. Hannah J Paul

I havent seen the quote but if you got it right then notice he said the PRINCIPLES of Scientology. Even in the anti-scientology stories Xenu has nothing to do with their principles.
Since 53% of scientologists are christians (according to an anti-scientology site) then Im guessing that they and the devout scientologists find no conflict.

First off your assumptions are mistaken. None of the so-called "xenu" materials are fundamental principles of scientology. What you read on the net are a gross distortion of the actual intent & materials as used in practice by students of scientology.
Similarly the question as posed, is not well-framed. MOST of the bible deals with the history, traditions & legal practices of a band of nomadic goat herding peoples as they slowly evolved into minor city-dwelling communities in the middle east. So NO scientology certainly does not conform to 98% of THAT.
As to the general ethical principles espoused by the bible, they can be found to some degree in most religious traditions, scientology included. No surprises there.
As to how you measure 98% of ethical principles, I suppose that is right up there in cutting edge theological research with "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin".

Short answer: no. Longer answer: Scientology was designed as a money-making cult by science fiction author L Ron Hubbard. A common tactic of Scientology (and other cults) is to try to lure people in with false claims that it is compatable with their current belief system, then slowly pervert those beliefs. Christianity does not charge for knowledge of their religion, it does not force members to disassociate with friends/family members who question the church, the list of differences is to large to go into here. Scientology CLAIMS similarities to Christianity, that doesn't make it true. It is a dangerous cult, PERHAPS with some useful entry-level courses to suck people in.

The principles of most religions are pretty much the same. Its just the stories behind it, and the methods for distributing it, that are different. But I must say that while the stories behind christianity and scientology are totally opposite (one has their god deeply inserted into your life, and the other has their "god" all locked up and they are trying to shake his influence) as far as their tactics there is quite a lot of similarity.

Well, I'd say that 100% of the principles in Scientology are identical to the principles of the Bible in that none of them have a single shred of empirical evidence to support them and they must be completely taken on faith in order to believe.
The names and circumstances of the respective stories in those religions as well as all the mandates, prohibitions and admonitions are pretty much irrelevant from an outsider's perspective.

Every single religion is almost the same .
SO many of them are only separated by a matter of a few beliefs .
They all stem from virgin births . A common theme accepted in mythology/religion . They all teach that stealing is wrong yet invading another country is ok .
Religion makes you sand back and say wow what a delusional bunch of nuts we have on this planet .

Perhaps if you generalize the principles i.e. consider praying but not to the Xian god. Hubbard needed to get his principles from somewhere, so what better way that the time honored practice of borrowing?
