iv found a recipe for cupcakes and it says to use shortening but im not sure what to use. do they mean butter margarine or ( hopefully not) lard.

i feel stupid asking but its the only wat i'll find out!! lol

Shortening is lard. I usually use the Crisco brand. If you want to substitute butter, it may be OK, but sometines the flavor and consistency will not be the same. Actually, a lot of places feel that lard is actually better in many ways than butter.

Yeah, it is used in the same way as butter, lard or margerine. It is made of oil. You can find it by those items in the grocery store.

Normally i would just say fruit, but i think both. I like the sweet taste of the fruits but i love the essence and kick the produce bring

Crisco is NOT Lard . It is hydrogenated vegetable oil and chemicals with added preservatives NOT LARD>!!!!!!

Use margarine, shortening is a vegetable fat like "Cookeen"
