Are you able to move your stand location with out spooking him?If so I would look for a spot about 10 to 75 yards inside the wood lot to place my stand before he comes out to the field to feed. But this method can be a little tough because you did not say if any other deer are coming out to feed also so a new stand placement may not be able to be done. But if you can it may be best if you use a climber stand because of less disturbance!
If not this sounds like a good setup for a decoy!
Place your decoy so he is unable to down wind check with your scent being mixed in though.Use a good doe urine scent with doe decoy or a buck urine with buck decoy.Place decoy with-in your range away from your stand. If using a buck decoy I place mine out in the open but only so the buck doesnt have the ability to down wind me!A doe decoy I will usually place near edges(to be natural) and I hunt off the edge of the field about 20 to 30 yards.
Rattling and calling is a good method to temp this buck to come in closer but use proper scent control and use of lures such as estrus or buck urines.
All this used together may give you the edge over that 8 point buck!

What I have always done is moved closer to the area the buck is coming from. Chances are if you back track the to area the deer is coming from, you can find a good location for your tree stand.
I am not a fan of the artificial scents. I feel like for every deer you bring in you probably scare several off several. I know some folks have gotten lucky using them. IMO an old, wise buck will know the difference between store bought, man-made scents and the real thing, he smells everyday. Even Coad Blue doe estrous is a year old. It is already on the shelves in Alabama, and the rut is still a month and a half away.
Stick to the basics, leave no scent going in, leave no scent coming out, and pick your stand location so that you are close enough and you will be sucessful.
Good Luck!

You can try to decoy him in. If he's the dominate buck in the area, he won't want other bucks near his does. You can use a deer decoy or a deer target. Just keep it as scent free as you possibly can and spray it with a cover scent after you place it in the field. Almost every time, the buck will come in to the decoy so they are face to face so place the decoy where the buck will present you with a shot. A call that challenges the buck, like a snort/wheeze, might get him into bow range also. Patience is the key. Spend enough time and you should get a chance to take the deer. Good luck.

You can try a number of things depending on your hunting topography. The most logical is move your stand into a more advantageous position if possible, if not rattling might bring the buck in.
Another possible solution if your wind direction is in your favor is use a scent that might entice the buck closer. For instance a doe in Estrus scent of dominant buck lure scent, either which might mask your scent and also bring him in a little closer for you. A combination of the rattling and scent might be your most effective possibility as I assume that you probably have already thought about changing your stand or position to hunt from.
Good hunting and good luck.

Great answers and lol yep that beach ball might grab his eye, deer are curious. I have seen them come up to a moving varmint decoy.
I would find out where he comes into that field and where he leaves it at. Also I would bet he will walk around part of the outside perimeter of the field in the timber or brush before he makes his way into it.
Its about data on his movements then set a plan to be down wind of him when he feels safe. That could be on his approach to the field, back in the woods some.
Make darn sure you do not smell like anything other than your cover scent. Just stepping in some gas or oil at the gas station will blow it for you, as well smelling like anything you don’t find in his neighborhood.
You could try to make him come to you. Wear rubber boots with no scent except a rag tied around it so it will drag on the ground with doe in heat scent. Walk meandering into the field hours before his time and walk toward your stand at an angle. Walk past your stand and hang that rag on a tree where you have a good shot.
Or make a ground stand out of brush off to the side down wind of his path. It may spook him for a few days though.
Hang a large white feather on a string on the other side of his trail across from your stand, about 30 to 40 yards away. It will take his mind off of your direction some and draw his curiosity. This also works on bobcats. As long as there is a slight breeze.
You could make him turn back to you when he leaves the field. By hanging a sock you wore the day before from a tree limb at the end of the field, just past his exit area a couple of yards. This will spook him and turn him back in a hurry. Of course this would run him out of the field if the sock is up wind from it.
I knew one fellow who found the time the buck would arrive and set a loud Big Ben alarm clock at his exit route. Lol scared the hell out of that buck! But he was on the bucks escape route and the buck went by him about 12 feet away. After the buck ran about 60 yards it stoped and turned around as deer are known for. And well that put the buck about 20 yards from my buddy. Result; nice 4 x 4.
If I hadn’t seen it I would have called him a liar! Lol
Good hunting! Hope you get him.

the guy that answered first has all the right ideas. exactly what i would say. but i will tell you something that is really wierd but it works sometimes. on a day that it is not windy, take a beach ball with you. blow it up and set it within shooting distance. i know it sounds weird but it really makes deer curious as to what it is and 9 out of 10 they will cautiously walk up to investigate. then you can take your shot.

You already have a lot of good advise here. I do occasionally use lures when I need that Buck to position a little closer. Harmon has several choices. Just don't over do it.
