I know this is ridiculous but...
I just turned 17 about 4 months ago and suddenly feel very old. I'm afraid of turning 18, i guess I'm worried all my teenage fun will have to go and im suddenly supposed to intensely mature. I know I'm allowed to still have fun but its something thats been constantly on my mind and bothering me. I'm asking for idk maybe some words on how to get over my "age crisis".

i just turned 30, and i still worry about some day i will have to grow up. LOL. this is normal. you start thinking about all the things your parents do for you and realize, soon you will have to do it for yourself. don't worry, they will still be near by to give you advice. and yep, some days you will sink and some you will swim. at 18 i was on a bus off to the Army. talk about nerves.

lol, try mine, im 35 today and pregnant for the second time!!!!! If its any consolation, my dads 71 and has a 2 yr old daughter!!!!! Believe me, your teenage fun goes on a lot longer than yr tenage yrs, i know mine did. Your FARRRR to young to be worrying bout stuff like this. When you turned 17 this yr, did you suddenly wake up the day after your birthday and feel a year older???? Life doesnt happen like that my friend does it! I promise you that you`ll still be able to get up to no good (dont argue, ive been there myself remember lol) and do what everyone else is doing. Like ive said, im 35 today but i feel no different in my head to when i was 16. Only the body ages, not the mind, the mind just gets wiser and learns better ways of enjoying life. Now get out there and go and have a laugh, stop worrying and let tomorrow take care of itself. Good luck x

you need to relax honey or you will be much older and not have enjoyed any of your life! I used to be like that in my mid twenty's, but you cant stop time!So I had a huge fancy dress party for my thirtieth birthday and all was well, its all just a state of mind honey, but please do not let it spoil these tender young years, have fun but be safe.

You do and should be responsible but who is expecting it of you? Your parents? Your boss? We do all have to grow up one day, although some get through life never growing up.LOL

I don't believe that people are really responsible or mature and well balanced until they are at least 23, I think there are too many pressures on a (forgive me) "child" to suddenly be an adult, you've been a kid for 17 years, its not like there's a switch that turns you into sensible young adult! You can vote, smoke, drink get credit etc at 18 but I tell you, I was not mature enough to do anything but bumble my way through it and learn from my mistakes the hard way....

Try and relax and enjoy these years, yes be responsible but don't feel pressured to be what you are not. Good luck x

Cope with it or now not, it is occurring! I am fifty one, almost always turns out ancient to tons of folks. But age does not give up me from doing whatever I desire to do. And if it does, there may be nonetheless tons left. Being fifty one is releasing. I see the garments patterns the younger women put on and I suppose "thank God I do not have got to attempt to put on that!" I worry matters going down that I do not desire to occur like damage or sickness, however the ones matters can occur at any age. They do not occur to every body, and in the event that they occur to you, you manage it then. Worrying forward of time would possibly not do any well. Why be depressed given that I am now not 18 anymore? I was once 18 as soon as, and I wasn't well at it.

To be able to achieve the highest education, means guarantee of good life, money, and lots of fun. You will never get afraid of growing old anymore. Growing old is not bad you know, especially spending it with someone special. Life is great if you build it right at the very start. And your time to start is now.

This one is easy - wait until you get 50, THEN you'll be going through an "age crisis". Trust me, you are still very young and aging should be the last thing on your mind. You should be having fun and enjoying life and unless you are doing something really crazy with your life (like drugs or the thug life) you have a long long way to go. Relax and enjoy.

I understand! Really. I am about to turn 54 and have been through feeling like I should suddenly be grown up about a zillion times.

You can waste all your spare time worrying about tomorrow. OR you can waste all your spare time having.....fun. Stepping out and doing stuff you enjoy. In the immortal words of Janis Joplin....if you buy it today, you don't wear it tomorrow.

Tomorrow....and 18 will happen whether you enjoy today or not. I am not saying go do crazy things...unless ya wants to. But I am saying don't let worrying about tomorrow get in the way of being today.

Age is only a number. If you put it into your head that age is a matter of mind - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter. I'm thinking you may be timid about realizing being more mature means more responsibility.... and it does to an extent. However, 18 is still VERY young and you should be just concentrating on being yourself and getting the best education available to you. Please don't get so wrapped up emotionally about aging... it HAS to happen or there is just plain no future.

This is more of an issue for people when they get a whole lot older than you. Life will change and responsibilities will change and how you look will change. There are many pluses in life that occur with getting older. You trade some things for others. Write down all that concerns you about getting older. Then write down what would be the positives (and there are postives) for you. I think you will find somethings to enjoy about getting older.

I am going to pepper you with those old sayings:
"Age is just a number,"
"You are old as you feel"

I'm 50, still act like a kid at times (much to the annoyance of my boss). No biggie about being mature, that is taking care of business, the bills, your job. Being mature means you have more control of your life, and not relying on the folks to bail you out. Whoever said you can't have fun when your older, lied to you. Remember what ever you believe, is reality to you. Happy belated 17th birthday.

Chow,
Nick
