You should make the decision based on the course that you are playing. I find for example at the course I play the most I almost never hit pitching wedge. I am either too far from the green to hit wedge, or close enough to hit either 52 or 56. If you know the course or have a chance to play a practice round you can usually find a club that you will not need during the round because you just don't end up with that distance. On the other hand it is only in the last 20 years or so that anyone carries more than two wedges. Players got by for hundreds of years with a pitching wedge and a sand wedge so maybe you've spoiled yourself with so many different lofts. I was at a short game clinic by Tom Watson and here's what he said about us average players hitting a 60 degree: "You either hit it perfect, or you hit it again".

Got the same problem carry 4 wedges 48, 52, 56 and 60 degrees.
After lots of playing around have dropped my 3 and 5 woods got a 4 wood instead along with a 19 degree TM rescue club and dropped the 3 iron.
The way I look at it from 200 yards plus you are looking for pars at best, from inside 100 yards you have a realistic chance of a birdie or a par at worse.
So I want the best chance to score low which 4 wedges give me!

I too like carrying a number of wedges and have a very similar set up, PW(46), GW(52), SW(56), LW(60). I tend to carry all my wedges and leave out a long club.
I've replaced my 4 iron with a 4 hybrid, which is about 1/2 a club longer than my 4 iron. I have recently replaced my 5 wood with a 2 hybrid. Between hybrids, either a choked 2 or hard 4 I can sacrifice my 3 iron for the extra wedge.
I generally keep my LW in the bag and if I need to carry the 3 iron (windy days [also swap out the 4H for the 4I]) I tend to sacrifice the SW.

-A.

I find it relates to the course. The shorter courses I will leave out my 3 iron. the longer ones I leave out my 60 degree wedge. I would try to study the consistency of your shots(on the course) with each club and find the ones you do best with. Never think about what you don't have, but what you can do with what you have. I would also try to take out the club that does the same thing as another. Why carry a three hybrid and a three iron. To me this seems foolish.

Same problem. PW, GW(48*), SW(52*), SW(56*), LW(60*)
I tried using a 54 instead of 52/56 but I just didn't feel comfortable with distances with it from full to halt to quarter swings. Weird.
I rarely use 60 but on the day I have to come out of a sand bunker with the pin close to the bunker and a high lip, I'll be kicking myself if I didn't have the 60.
I carry...
Driver
3 wood
5 wood
4 hybrid
5i-PW
GW,SW,SW,LW

If your irons start with a 3 and 4 iron, chuck both of those, keep your 60 degree wedge and add a 21 degree hybrid. Problem solved!!

No. Other than the PW from my iron set, I carry a 52* and 60*. I have been able to cover every shot I need with these two, so I don't pay it another thought.

Never had that problem, I use a pitching wedge or a sand iron.
If I need more loft I open my stance and open the face of my sand iron.
I practice approach shots probably the most and using this technique has always served me well.

It never occurred to me how lucky I was to have too strict a current budget to invest in more clubs until I read your question.
