For Kripes sake dude .You're gonna be a couple of blocks away from one of the best authentic Italian neighborhoods in NYC and you wanna go to Applebee's ? Cruise over to Arthur Avenue and find some real food instead

You could either hit the one on W. 225th Street in the Bronx (next to Target) or the one in Bay Plaza (Co-Op City). They are pretty much equal in distance...just in different directions.

By bus...To 225th Street (BX9 bus by Southern Blvd - to 263/Riverdale), for Bay Plaza (BX12 to Bay Plaza)

However, looking down at Mr. D's answer....(and give him the 10 points), you have Little Italy right on the heart of Arthur Avenue! That food makes Applebees taste like a Banquet TV Dinner! TONS of Italian restaurants there....at least look at the delis and see the boars dangling from the window, ready to be eaten!

You will be in New York City, why go to an Applebee's? Try a local place of any faire you've never had before. Turkish, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Ethiopian, ....why eat at a chain restaurant if you're in the one city on the North American Continent where the restaurants are the most diverse? Look a bit online, and you'll find things you've never dreamed of finding here. Why eat the same things you can get at home when you are HERE?

I think the closest one is the Applebees on by Broadway. Take the BX 9 bus (you can take the bus at Fordham and Southern Blvd) to Broadway and 225th st (by the 1 train; the applebees is by target). Or you can take the BX 12 bus at Fordham and Southern Blvd, to Bay Plaza (the last stop must stay bay plaza and it stops in front of jc penney). the applebees is right across jc penney's.
