I always thought that was a bit over the top on God's part. Since when was "Baldhead" an insult? Maybe God is bald and he thought the kids were talking to him. So how do you deal with kids that make fun of people? Send some bears to eat them. That's right. Kill them.

Believed to have been clever adolescents. not all people has discovered the lesson we would desire to constantly glean from that incident: Mocking God and/or his human beings not something wanting not sensible. there's a penalty If the guy being mocked needs to call down the curse.

There is no context where that is acceptable moral behavior. As with many biblical stories (mostly in the OT) - you have to read them while wearing Rose Colored Glasses. Drinking heavily also helps.
