No. Good luck trying to ram that information home into the head of a Young Earth believer. They are in a constant state of denial.

We don't. We go by what the Bible says and we don't add to it. Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". period. It does not say when or how it was created. We know that each creative day was a time period and not a literal 24 hours. The Bible never says the seventh day has ended. We are still in the seventh day of God's rest. He has rested from creating anything new. So far the seventh day has lasted more than 6,000 years. Why would the previous six be any shorter? Dinosaurs were created in the fifth creation period. Most had died off before man came into existence. A few could have been on Noah's Ark. Not all dinosaurs were big. We have animals around today that could be classified as dinosaurs or of that species. I don't call people who believe otherwise kooky. They are simply misinformed by their religious leaders. The bad part is that they will be judged by what these leaders have told them. Because they have a mind and can figure out things for themselves if they want to.,

Your statement is true. This 6000 year business stems from a literal interpretation of the word day, which is obviously not meant to be literal. No body speaks literally. Especially in the middle east where the Bible was written.
The sun wasn't created until the 2nd or 3rd day, therefore the term couldn't have referred to a 24-hour period. And the word day is used throughout the Bible to refer to varying definite or indefinite spans of time.
There is also the atomic decay of rocks, which shows they have existed for millions of years.
Continuing to believe the universe is 6000 years old is like insisting that the Earth is flat. [Which by the way, the Bible says the Earth is round (Isaiah 40:22)].

I believe the earth is 6000 years old or there about and the heaven above the earth, but God stretched out the heaven of heavens like a curtain. There will come a day that God will roll up the heaven as a scroll. Bible records three heavens. It records God stretching them out as a curtain so evidently they can recoil or spring back like a rubber band. God's heaven is the North. The second heaven is the universe and our heaven is the sky we see where the birds fly.
The idea of a renewed universe is even found in many verses of the Bible.
Let me ask you something. Is it possible that the universe can be stretched to look extremely older than it is? There is a God explanation for your light years but the Bible does not reveal it to man. Only God has the wisdom to "stretch out" the heaven. In the Bible, Bethel is a "gateway" to heaven.
God spread it out and God will wrap it up like a scroll. One day all of these questions will be answered. I believe it will be soon.

Christians have explained this a thousand times but here goes once more. Time with God is different than it is with humans. A thousand year's is a day with God in some instances. Adam died in that day.
Some say thousands of years with God is a day, they have also said that before the earth was filled with humans God possiblely took billions perhaps to make the Universe.
Making all the suns, black holes, galaxies, ect.
Making animals, birds, land masses, ect.
Then God made Adam, how long he was in the garden before Eve or before he sinned no one knows, no one knows how much time passed during that time.
No one actually knows how many children they had. They only mention the ones who did the killing and the one who got killed. Because it was a notable event.
Genesis 5: 4 after saying the prominient men it goes on to say he became father to sons and daughters.
Then it says he lived 930 years and he died. Was that after he sinned? All total? We will never know.
But using that basis, and adding the rest he lived so long and so on. Then matching this with other notable events mentioned in secular history and the bible. Through archology digs and other facts. Mankind has been on the earth after Adam sinned 6034 years in 2008.
That does not mean that the earth is that old or that dinosaurs didn't roam the land prior to that. We know it was here for some time before mankind was made.

The strata layers which scinetist say took millions of years to form have been found also as a result of mount st helens erupting, the same strata formation taking less than 30 years to form
the craters and canyons created that scientist say took millions of years to form have been observed to be formed by volcanoic eruptions and took only miuntes to form
this is observable and did not take millions of years, so can you put your hand on your heart and say everything else that looks dead similar must have taken millions of years?
Millions of years for abiogenesis and for evolution can not have taken place if there was a world wide flood, this is why scientists contiune to debate the issue.
However there is evidence for the flood:
The chalk l;ayers such as trhe white cliffs of dover are formed only when a mountain or rock layer is covered with water, at this point amoeba and other single cellular organisms can calcify on the rock. It doesn't happen at lower depths as the amoeba and unicellular levels dissolves
this is proven, so it could not happen at the sea bed.
Also this chalk level is universal throguhout the world, conditions for this means the whole wide world must have been covered in water for this to occur throughout the world.
It's the only way it could have happened.
peace
thumbs down because what i say isn't science, or because it's science you don't like?

No. SN1987A exploded 168,000 years ago. Three rings of sloughed gas illuminated in the months after it appeared. The time it took to illuminate the rings gives the size of the rings by the speed of light, and their angular size was measured. No Creationist can explain away the object that was destroyed more than 150,000 years before the universe was created.

If youare talking about teh scriptures; please re-read Genesis 1 soon. Man has been on Earth about 6000 years (actually a little under 5800). However, Days 1,2, and 3 of creation may have been much longer than 24 hours apiece; the Sun, Moon, and stars had not been created yet (Day 4).
So hypothetically, day 1,2,3 each may have been 24,000,000,000 hours long.

Until my father lost his faith he was a fundamentalist christian pastor. As a child I once asked him about the dinos. He told me god created the world that way. I asked why fossils would be created for us to find if the creatures never existed. He told me god could do anything and in this case it was a test of faith. Well I didn't voice more disagreement but if that was a test I failed. Then one day he decided divorce was ok after all and left my mother high and dry. I pity him and hope he will one day learn to have a different faith that he can live with.

Nope. Don't believe that for a second. Of course if you multiply that 6000 by 2.5 million then you get a number that is much more accurate and closer to the actualy age of the universe.
