I know lots of intense workouts that serve different purposes, but you haven't stated a goal.

Presumably you have a reason to do an intense workout or workouts.

OK, here's a few.

1. Go to the pool. 800 meter warm up (swim easy). 12x100 meters on the 1:30, ie, swim 100 (4 lengths), rest the balance of the 90 seconds, go again x 12. 400 meter cool down.

2. Jog to the local high school track for a warm up. Starting halfway on the front straightaway (50 yard line), sprint the rest of the straight, the turn and half the backstretch (to the other side of the 50) . Walk or jog across the field to the starting point. Repeat. 20-25 minutes of this should be plenty. Jog home to cool down.

3. If you have a stationary bike, set it up in front of the TV for an NFL game. Ride at a moderate pace and resistance level. Every commercial break, click the resistance up 2 levels and sprint for the duration of the commercials, then click back down when game action resumes. If you're in decent shape, do the whole game. If not, see how long you can last. ---alternately --- get a DVD of "The Godfather". Sprint for 90 seconds every time someone is killed.

Look for exercises that use multiple muscles in rapid movements with resistance included. Men's Health is a good source for workouts that won't require 30 hours in the gym a week.

one example is a quick clean jerk(lift weight from floor and push above your hear) that you finish by jumping as high as you can. You do 10 to 15 repetitions and take a 20 second break.

This works because many muscles are doing lots of movement, so you don't need a heavy weight (it's actually dangerous to go above 20% of your max clean jerk). After a few cycles and a combination of similar exercises you have a decent aerobic workout to burn fat combined with muscle building exercises
