I do an hour of cardio daily for one hour. afterwards, I am always hungry, I go to college, so it isn't unusual to find pineapple cups-real pineapple with no sugar added prepackaged, at the deli by the university gym. i find myself always eating them after a workout. my dad, who had lost a lot of weight in his twenties told me that it is very bad to eat such sugary foods after exercising. is this true? or does the fact that pineapple is a fruit, and happens to speed up your metabolism cancel-out the fact that it is so sugary?

all natural foods are only bad if you are allergic to them. if not then the only issue would be the quantity at which they are consumed in. all natural foods consumed in moderation are always healthy and beneficial to the body. it's man made foods from factories that should cause concern.

Actually, if you hope to be able to do anything later, you should replenish your sugar. When you do workouts, you are trying to get rid of the fat, not the sugar. The sugar is your quick energy, you always need it in your system, if you hope to move around a lot after a work out. Doughnuts and other "fake" sugars are really never good, but fruits are good for after workouts, because they are natural and don't have complex sugars. You'll see a lot of people drinking sports drinks as well. It replaces their sugars and helps their metabolism.

The sugar in a pineapple is different then the processed white sugar, so I would think it is OK....just depends on the amount you eat....I think.
Try asking a nutritionist tho to be sure.

I don't know about eating sugar after exercising, but I do know that if you eat protein with 30 minutes after exercising it helps to build muscle. Maybe you should grab a hard boiled egg or piece of chicken or something.

I always eat fruit after working out. It gives me more energy for the rest of my day. I don't know if it's good or bad, but that's what I do.

It would be better if you were cutting up an actual pineapple. Those enzymes are no longer active once it's been packaged.
