I'm sitting in an internet cafe as i write this. I'm currently ok as i have £400 in my purse which i stole from my abusive ex-father (i itend to divorce my parents if that's possible) now wondering what to do. After a particularly abusive episode i stole my father's credit card, booked a flight to australia, and here i am. I've long intended to go live in australia; i've just gone about it the wrong way! I've binned my passport because i refuse to go back; it's probably on it's way to a distant rubbish dump by now. The only ID i have (being only 16) is my birth certificate, which i'm keeping hidden. At the moment i'm staying in a hotel but will soon be moving onto the streets because i want to save money; weather is glorious. But what the hell do i do now? I need to go to school! I have nowhere to live. How can i convince some official to let me stay? Desperately want education, but would rather be a street bum than put in some vile british care home. Help? Thanks!

The obvious answer is you should go to another member of your family that can put you up...but since you have already made this big decision to leave the country that might be hard. Honestly, the best thing you can do is find a nice older man to take you in. I know this may not be a crowd pleaser...but you are going to find out on your own soon enough. Use all of your charms to your advantage, not many people can resist a sad young girl. You will learn there are people who are going to take advantage of you, so toughen up. Go around and find a waitressing job, lie and say you are 19. Get a job and connections to people who can help you, and prepare for some difficult times. Again, if there are any relatives that can help you, don't destroy those lines of communication, and always remember that you can run from your problems, but they never go away until you deal with them.

Go to a shelter, i dont know about australia, but in the US i did the same thing for a while, minus the credit card. Look up sites about squatter's rights, homelessnes, bum camps, there are many many resources, you just have to ask around. I know the UK has a huge mevement, Australia used to, so im sure there are all kinds of options. Start at a church or drop in center for food and more resources. Edit: but after reading the above post, dont waste resources for someone who could really use them if your just a weekend warrior and have daddy's money. Most people on the streets dont.

I'm sorry but you have done things all wrong. you can't stay in Australia as an illegal immigrant. You won't be able to get a tax number so you can't work. Best to give yourself up now before you go drifting . I know life can be hard at your age but for your future you need your schooling Qualifications. and then the world is your oyster. You are in for a rocky road if you don't do things the proper way now. You have no choice but to give yourself up .If you want help with authorities there is some nice people along the way but in the long run the legal system will win so you may as well go along with it and be kind to yourself it won't seem the right answer at the moment to you but behave and smile and the world will smile back

You must report yourself to the authorities if you are to have any chance. I don't know what the law is in the UK but you cannot be forced to return home in Australia nor can you be forced into care when you are 16. You can, however, be arrested if you commit a crime and will be deported once you have served your sentence. You will also be deported if you overstay your visa.

You don't say how long you have been here. Presumably you are still covered by your visa (you would not have that amount of money still had you been here three months and it wouldn't be in pounds, it would be in Australian dollars. As you are still covered by your visa, you are not illegal yet so you can ask for help and be listened to. Others have given you references for agencies offereing help, call them.

Domestic violence can be used as a valid reason to apply for a protection visa to Australia.

Unfortunately, you've made a bad mistake by overstaying your Visa, but given the circusmstances that can't be helped.

You need sensible advice and somewhere safe to stay.

Below is a helpful link for Women's Refuges within Australia.

Most refuges provide secure single room accommodation in houses which look just like ordinary suburban homes, meals, safe bathroom and washing facilities, counselling and support, and have access to legal and immigration services.

They can also put you in contact with youth refuges if that is more appropriate for you.

You may have a time limit to stay, but can move to another refuge if the situation is dire.

During my years working in a women's refuge, a number of the women were successfully assisted with immigration and refugee issues.

Also, women's refuges are good places to look for confidential assistance, as they are in locations which are not advertised generally.

Best wishes to you! :-)

i find it hard to believe you were able to buy a ticket and get through airport security alone!

you will fast find yourself in a serious dangerous position if you live on the streets.
id give you a few weeks before you are seriously injured or killed
go to the British embassy or consulate or phone one of the help lines a previous poster gave you
Do something NOW before you get hurt!
