How much oil do I need to fry my bird?

I've got at 12 pound turkey, and I need to find out how much peanut oil I need to fry it. Last time I did it was two years ago, and I don't remember how much oil it took...

You need enough to cover the bird. Take the container you will be frying it in and place the bird in it. Fill with water until it is covered. Remove the bird and either mark the container or pour into a measuring device to get the amount of oil needed.
