by some standards that would make energy a god as he is supposely the only eternal thing there is---guess this would qualify as circular logic wouldnt it---just my thoughts-smile and enjoy the day

Matter and energy are 2 sides of the same coin. Between the the 2 there is always something in existence. So it is that all creation is eternal. Whether you are Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, or any other faith. If an eternity is assumed by a faith that would mean that somehow something must exist. And unless science is just optimistic mythology to explain our reality then we should be able to one day explain and understand it, if not define it exactly (who can see the mind of god ?) And so it is that God, in all his divine glory, can do anything he wishes. Matter and energy are just our limited way of looking at it.

Is it eternal? Yes. It is infinite in quantity? No.
Neither can be created nor truly destroyed, only changed. Matter can be changed from one form of matter to another, or into some form of energy. Energy can be transformed from one form to another, or into some form of Matter.
As an example. In the Biblical Strogy of Adam and Eve in genesis, neither were created from nothingness. Adam was created out of the dust of the ground and Eve was created from one of Adam's ribs. This is an example of transfromation of one form or matter into another. When they died, their matter was transformed into the energy of the soul.
Even the creation of the universe fits in with that. In the biblical account the universe was created when God spoke a specific word. Thus the energy of sound was transformed into the various forms of matter and energy in the universe.
So, from this we can gather than all that has eveer been, all that is, and all that will ever be already exists in some form of either matter or energy, simply waiting to be transformed from one form to another. So while the quantities are finite, their constant transfromations from one state to another makes them eternal as no particular state can be eternal. It is why every erg of energy and every molecule of matter in the universe is in some way connected to every other and each are dependant on the others for their very existance.
Whether it is the transformation of falmables into fire for heat (matter into energy), or the transformation of the Caterpillar into the butterfly (Transformation of one form of matter into another) the process is eternal even if the form is not.

I guess in that sense it is eternal - it will go on existing until God says otherwise. But it isn't eternal like God is. God had no beginning - He has always existed. Matter, however, seems to have had a beginning. As for whether it's infinite in quantity, we have no way of knowing that. We can't see beyond the edge of the universe....and if we could, who are we to say that there is no more matter beyond the reach of our universe? We can't know. As smart as we are we have only scratched the surface of all there is to know!

Matter can be destroyed, we are matter and we die. A supernova of a star is matter being destroyed, because the star is matter, but energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change shape.
In keeping with the concept of spirituality and the concept of GOD and understanding that thought it`s self is energy.
GOD then becomes the greatest form of energy and merely thought the Universe into existence. The example being -
God said: "Let there be light" and it was.
Now, just for something to think about, our bodies are matter and dies, but we are also energy and that part of us cannot be destroyed. We would change shape and maintain thought.
Then it comes down to what side of energy you choose to be on, Positive or Negative.

yes, at it's basic level, energy is eternal (although we will see forms of energy decay, or I should say break apart into it's components)
it is not infinite in quantity though - at least it doesn't seem to be but it's not like we've been able to measure all the energy in the universe

Enery cannot be created it can only be transfered, Hence the enegy in the hand winds up the radio, so now the radio has energy. Now we eat to replenish our bodies energy, drawing it from the food.
Energy has quantifying limits...!!

Yes, it is eternal in this universe.
No, it is not infinite in quantity.
No, god doesn't exist.
Edit:
Nor does it imply that god exists or not.

That is not spiritually speaking, but physically speaking. Spiritually, since God is supernatural and created they physical laws, He can create matter/energy.
