No brutal honesty... I am not asking that.. I'm simply asking if anyone could Actually find a reason to think of a loved one that many times a day???

Its a consequence of the feelings you associated with the individual being more INTENSE then any other feelings you feel. I'm sure you'd understand, that if you had something as intense or more that you felt for, that you wouldn't think about him as much.
