Hi,
Good question! Hell is actually the Ancient Greek word for the 'common grave'.
The bible tells us that we know nothing, have no awareness or work in that place. Don't forget Jesus was sent there, so it is reasonable that God would not send his son into a firey furnace. Or would he make such a place! It does talk symbolically however in revelation about a firey place which means the second death or a place where no one comes back from ,so the person becomes non existant - like burnt ashes, there is nothing left, no reprieve.

Some say we are all already in hell. We sinned in our past lives and now we suffer for these years in hell called earth with war, plague, cancer, aids, and chronic pain. There is good and pleasure, but pain always outwits them all...be it "ostracized" or "accepted", one is constantly in hell in this world.

or

to relate a little more to european/american religion, maybe hell is literally when you die, yet you still feel pain in your body without any vital signs whatsoever...just the scientific anon\moly of nervous function without any reason why...and you suffer until your body decomposes completely....that'd be terrible if people really felt that.

now, atheist view - there's no hell

and Buddhist view - umm...I'll have to look that up.

Scientology....extremely dangerous...by all means, stay away from those neo-neworder nazis.

Many also just believe It's a wise-man's tale, and "the creator" ...the real maker of what we have here....is curious as to why people keep believing in it. Though, it's funny how people in ancient times believed hell was underground in fire and molten lava...yet, the earth's core actually consists of that...and why are the dead buried? They are placed closer to hell, than heaven in the sky?
Being cremated and blown into the earth's atmosphere sounds better. Then, your body seriously becomes a contributor to so much more.

boy I love starting sentances with "Some say" or "People say"....makes me feel like the Fox Network corporation any their blank sources for statistics roflamolol.

God and Jesus forgive all sins, so what reason is there for a hell? "Everyone" is forgiven? ...or maybe just not those who literally organize groups to murder thousands? cult leaders, be careful! you hear!

Quran Surah 101. Al-Qaria.

1 The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:
2 What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?
3 And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?
4 (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about,
5 And the mountains will be like carded wool.
6 Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy,
7 Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction.
8 But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,-
9 Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit.
10 And what will explain to thee what this is?
11 (It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely!

This translation of God's messages in beautiful poetry.

Christians often accuse that Mohammad has copied from Bible to write Quran. I ask you all Is there any thing written like the above in your Old and New Testaments. You don''t have any thing like this and lot more poetry of God I shall present you in my answers later. I challenge you. You can not come with any thing similar.

Following is the explanation of the preparation for the day of Judgment. This is the knowledge we drive from above Surah and many more chapters of Quran.

First God will create an extremely severe earthquate. Its convulsion will make dust of mountains fly in atmosphere like carded wool. God will do this to flatten the earth to make a plain field where all humans will be brought for judgement after their resurrection. Angels will take them in groups as per the categories of people into this plain field. There Angle will hand them their record of good deeds in their right hands from the front and to bad people record of bad deeds in their left hands from behind. Some will be rejoicing and some will be sad and gloomy. Go will give the final judgment for each person.

Since God has to destroy the earth, one highly respected Muslim Scholar says that the hell will be right here on earth.
After punishing all the sinners, God will destroy at the end and also the hell with it. The good souls deserving heaven will be transported to some other planets where Heavens will already be made in some other galaxies.

God Knows best.

We Men analyze all God's messages and use our judgement to interpret Quran in some cases where quite clear is not available. Perhaps God wants all humans to comtemplate and think hard and do research on entire Quran for mental exercise and to conclude ourselves our own understanding of God's messages.

Hell is not a place: It is in the spiritual realm, and like spirits, it does not occupy space. Hell is eternal seperation from God, just as heaven is eternal bliss in union with God.

The eternal nature of hell is stressed in the New Testament. For example, in Mark 9:47–48 Jesus warns us, "It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, where the worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched." And in Revelation 14:11, we read: "And the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name."

Hell is not just a theoretical possibility. Jesus warns us that real people go there. He says, "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few" (Matt. 7:13–14).

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, ‘eternal fire.’ The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs" (CCC 1035).

Hell is really not a place but a spiritual condition and it is within all those who do the wrong, it goes much worst when they die on their sins.
