I want a sort of mountain bike type but I don't know which one to get for my size. I'm 5'4" and I don't know whether to get a 24" or a 26". I know what brand I'm getting because my friend has that brand and itis really nice. I just want a bike to ride around on on the weekends and stuff, so I just need to know which size bike to get. If this helps, I weigh 125 pounds, so if you know a lot about bikes I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Go to a local bike shop and have them fit you to a bike. Then you will know what size is correct for you. Do this even if you are not going to buy the bike at that shop. You will be back there to buy tires, tubes, accessories, and other things.

Above all, wear a helmet each and every time you ride. Never put your butt on the seat without your helmet on your head.

I think you are confusing wheel size with frame size. All adult mountain bikes have 26 inch wheels. Youth bikes have 12, 16, 20, or 24 inch wheels. You will definitely need a 26, the question is what frame size. Make sure to go to a shop and sit on these bikes. A bike that doesn't fit is next to useless.

You need a 26" wheel size for certain. My daughter is a small 10 year old and a 24" MTB bike fits her well, she's 4' 3". Make sure to get the correct frame size that fits you.

You need to go sit on the bike--

Buy your bike at a bike store- not Wal-mart
The guy at the bike store can recommend the correct size..

When you are sitting on the bike.. your leg should be almost fully extended with the pedal at the bottom
Remember that the seat is adjustable up or down...
Hope this helps..

Definitely the 26"! That is the wheel size - no adult bicycle has 24" wheels (although some folding ones have 16" or 20"). You'd need to find out the frame size.

Size will depend on how long your legs are ! Go to a bike shop and they'll fit you. Bikes from Walmart, ect, are junk.
