In short? Three years after you become a permanent resident of the US, *if* you're married to the same US citizen for the whole duration of those three years. You need to be a permanent resident before you can 'take the American passport', ie become a naturalized citizen. Hopefully that's not your principal concern here.

If you are more worried about when you can get a passport than about the marriage you have no business getting married.

You should have a passport issued by your home country. You will need to keep this current for a number of years.

You first enter the US under a fiance visa. You have a certain amount of time to get married. You then apply for a 1 year resident alien card (green card) after 1 year you can apply for a 10 year card. After you meet all requirements of citizenship you can apply to be a citizen. Once you become a citizen you can get a US passport.

Hmmm, not sure what you are asking so I will give a stab at this-once married to an american you can get a (green card) on a conditional basis for 2 years, then remove the conditions.
After 3 years (total) if you are still married you can apply for citizenship. If you are no longer married you have to wait 5 years - total - before you can apply

It all depends where you are and if you came here legally or if you here illegaly AND sometimes they years youve been married. Immigration officers look at that. But if your doing everything the right way, meaning, being here on with a VISA, having no criminal charges against you of any kind, the whole process usually take about six months.
