Most music and songs are in the form of poetry. Did you know that Prophet Mohammed(SAW) said that it is better for a man to fill the inside of his body with pus than to fill it with poetry?
That the Quran even says that Allah(SWT) did not teach Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) poetry?

There are many hadiths which talk about Music being haraam, do you disagree with them?
Is Music HALAL?

The verse in the Quran 36:69

I never said Poetry is haraam, the Quran tells us not to listen to idle talks..

It is a real shame to see Brothers and Sisters who do not know or understand their religion..

Shakespeare poems and plays are the worse thing any Muslim can read. He speaks of sexual affairs with women who are not his wife and married women(adultery). In some it is even suggested he was in Love with another man...

encentric, I think your reading the Quran in english version that is why your arguing this question. I am Arabian! I know Arabic and what the verse means.. Your translation is wrong.....
The Quran challenged poetry because it is useless idle talks and the Quran does not need poetry nor does Islam because it is a perfected religion and perfect book... Poetry is a hobby and it is not haraam in Islam but the words in some are haraam . Especially Shakespear!!!

Well, Musical instruments are said to be of the devil. So is useless talks...
If the purpose in poetry and a song is only the worship of Allah(SWT) and uses no instruments then it is ok.
Poetry is strongly disliked. In the verse given it says poetry is not for Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) and also hadiths state that poetry is disliked.
Wolfkare, you converted to Islam what all of two weeks, sister you should be careful in what you say..... you say you follow strong hadiths? In every strong hadith Bukhari, Muslim, Dawud, Al bani, it is mentioned that
Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) has said that it is better to fill the stomach with puss then to fill the mind with poetry.......
Islam has remained unchanged since the message was given to Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) none of our opinions are stronger then the Hadiths..
I will not encourage someone to do things which are strongly disliked and possibly haraam...
Keep in mind our soul purpose in life is to lead a pious life for sake of Allah(SWT)..

did those verses says music is haram?
i think you have not clearly read those verses?

for ur kind info i am posting them again:

chapter 36:69 by shakir
""And We have not taught him poetry, nor is it meet for him; it is nothing but a reminder and a plain Quran,""

it clearly says about the Quran that Quran is a simple plain book for the guidance of humans. God says these things because the infidels of those times start saying that Quran is a book of poetry as if u see Quran was written in poetry form ( in Arabic) and best poetry of any time.
so these verses don't say that music is haram u cant even find a single verse of Quran u says that music is haram

don't misguide Muslims on it

No music is haraam in Islam. There are refrences in the Qur'an and Hadiths to support this. There is nothing wrong with poetry as long as it doesn't have sex or drugs or alcohol in the words. No I don't disagree with the strong Hadiths and Qur'an.

Read these Questions & Answers. It will help you in distinguishing Halal & Haram music.

Question: Some people recite salaams on the tune of some songs. Is it haram or halal ?
Answer: If the recitation is not in a Lahvi manner, it is not haram. (Lahvi means something that is provocative and suitable for revelry).

Question: What is your ruling on ghina or song?
Answer: Singing (al-ghinã’) is harãm: doing it, listening to it, or living of it. By “singing — al-ghinã’,” I mean an amusing statement expressed in the tunes that are suitable for those who provide entertainment and amusement.

Question: Is it permissible to listen to revolutionary songs accompanied by sounds of piano, lute, drum, wind-pipe, and electronic piano?Answer: If the music accompanying it is that which is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings, it is not permissible to listen to it

Question: Is it permissible to listen to religious songs in praise of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) that are accompanied with music?Answer: Songs (al-ghinã’) are harãm absolutely. However, singing praise [of the Prophet or the Ahlul Bayt] that is sung with a good tune but is not in ghinã’ form is without problem.

As for the music, it would be allowed, if it is not suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings.

Question: Just as many questions are asked about halãl and harãm music, many questions are asked about halãl and harãm songs. Is it correct to say that harãm songs are those that arouse sexual, lustful urges and promote unstable and degrading behaviour? Is it correct to say that songs that do not arouse lustful desires, but elevate the souls and thoughts to lofty levels like religious songs of praise dedicated to the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and the Imams (a.s.), or the songs that lift the spirits and morale [of the fighters] and the like are halãl songs?
Answer: All songs (al-ghinã’) are harãm. Based on the definition that we accept, al-ghinã’ is the entertaining expression by way of tunes that are common to those who provide entertainment and amusement. In this prohibition, we should include the recitation of the Holy Qur’ãn, supplications (du‘ãs), and songs of praise of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) uttered to the accompaniment of those tunes [that are used by the entertainers]. The prohibition of reciting other non-entertaining expressions —like songs intended to lift the morale [of fighters]— is based on compulsory precaution. However, the tune that cannot be described as such is not harãm by itself.

Question: Many questions are asked concerning permissible and forbidden music.
Is it correct to say that the music that arouses sexual, lustful urges and promotes unstable and degrading behaviour is the forbidden one?
And is it correct to say that the music that soothes the nerves or causes relaxation, the music that forms the background of a scene in a movie to increase the effect of the scene on the viewers, the music that is used for physical exercise during workouts, the music that dramatizes a particular scene by its tune, or the one that arouses the zeal [in soldiers] is the permissible one?

Answer: Forbidden music is the music that is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings, even if it does not arouse sexual temptations.
Permissible music is the music that is not suitable for such gatherings, even if it does not soothe the nerves like the martial music and that played at funerals.
