Jesus said what it took:
17 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

A Christian is a Christian because they trust God through Jesus Christ. That is what a Christian is. They continue their lives trusting God. And God sent His Son to provide us a way to make peace with God.
When you look at the verses that I showed you, it has Jesus saying that those who don't believe are condemned already, that is because we have a nature of sin. It's a part of us even after we become 'saved'. What believing in Christ means is trusting Him to provide the 'covering' for sin, he made to sacrifice for us.
Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, ( the end of John 15, and in the midst of John 16) , and this Holy Spirit provides us with a counter force against our sin nature. As we trust God, we become better able to do the will of God in favor of His will over our own will.

To be a christians you need to confess Jesus as your lord and saviour and have him come into your heart.
A- Admitt your a sinner
B- Believe Jesus is Gods Son
C- Confess your sins
A christian is someone who has gave their life over to Jesus to be transformed and used by him.
When you do this you realize this. Right now when your not a christain your stained with sin. However when you ask Jesus in your heart he covers you with his rightousness and he then can see a pure heart. Becoming a christian is the first step to a wonderful life. Many Blessings Getting Their.

To believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, who died for your sins, offending the holy god and paid the penalty you owe and have no hope of being able to pay. You repent, or turn, from your sins, believe Christ alone can cleanse you from your sinfulness and confess Him as your Lord. Do this with your heart and in all sincerety and you will be saved.
