Even though his physical return has not happened yet, he's already rejected in about 85-90% of the congregations in America.

While not ALL religous leaders would reject Him, it is very likely that the vast majority would not.
The problem with Jesus is that he's either to calm or to fiery to fit into society at any given time. At this point, Jesus would be considered to much of a radical to fit into the rather watery religious attitude of the modern world. Even in his own time, Jesus was hated by most religious leaders.
Please understand that I mean no offense, and am only answering the question to the best of my ability.

Yes, I think so. Laying aside that Jesus won't actually return the way he first came, I have to agree with you that, if he DID, he would be seriously at odds with much of modern Christianity, so called.
If Jesus came to earth again in the manner of his first coming, he would really tear into the religious leaders, just as he did the first time. He would be really 'negative' towards them and would be accused of having a thoroughly 'bad attitude', of which he really ought to repent.
Because if Jesus returned, he would rebuke the Church of the many errors of its ways (and that's not to do with meeting on Sundays and not Saturdays). Shall I name a few - and I say these things because they are thoroughly at odds with scripture (which Jesus endorsed - John 17:17)?
I will leave the RC heresies aside and stick to 'our end' just for a bit of peace:
what about replacement theology, prosperity gospel, the 'word faith' movement, modern-day gnosticm, refutation of the virgin birth and the deity of Jesus, acceptance of homosexuality and 'political correctness' - to name but a few? What about building a church which is NOTHING LIKE the first church of the Apostles (and it wasn't RC either), built on a 'top down' structure for ambitious men to climb and rule, dominate and manipulate the faithful? What about preaching 'unity' at any cost and building a political structure which will effectively enmesh Christians and their current rights to freedom of choice and differing convictions? This is the building of ecclesiastical 'Babylon' - to rule over us all - which I am talking about.
Yes, I don't think Christ would be very happy with the state of his Church if he were to return today, and he would hold the religious leaders responsible, for 'to whom much is given, much is expected'.

When Jesus returns, it will not be to give people the opportunity of accepting or rejecting him. It will be too late for that. He is coming in great glory, with the angels, with amazing signs in the heavens. The angels will gather his elect from all over the earth (Mark ch 13). All the nations of the earth will mourn because of him (Rev 1:7-8). So NOW is 'make-your-mind-up-time' because when he returns, that day of opportunity will be over.

well from the two times I read the bible cover to cover Jesus seemed to be an anarcho-socialist... So I'd imagine that the majority of ultra conservative and authoritarian sects, (which make up the vast majority of Christianity as currently practiced), would reject him outright...

No, because when Christ returns this time, it will be in His full glory. His first advent was as the suffering servant, His second will be as the conquering King .... no one will mistake the hour and day that the Lord returns.

No because when he returns those who believe will Go to heaven. The rest are going to know for sure it is him. The next time he comes all will know for sure that he is God.

I don't think Jesus will actually return. Given we go into the hypothetical situation, I think people would deny Christ once more and have him murdered again.

OF COURSE HE WOULD look at the protestant world today > ok now look at WHAT LUKE 4 SAYS ABOUT JESUS. AS HIS MANNER was he went to the synagogues on the sabbath day,,, the bible states JESUS was sinless in all HIS ways . noone could say OR POINT OUT sin in HIS LIFE>
HIS CUSTOM the way he is accustomed to do,, would it change if HE was alive today? /IN THE book of hebrews we read jesus the same today yesterday and always .JESUS HIMSELF and his custom doesnt change, HE STaTED IN MATT, CH 15 WORSHIP IS INDEED IN vain WHEN TRADITIONS ARE PRACTICED RIDGELY ABOVE THE thus says THE LORD.,
if PROTESTANTS REALLY PROTEST THE DOCTRINE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AS THEY SAY THEY DO,, then they still would not be holding on to their momas hand , spiritually speaking, and following the same institutional day of worship she ,, the mother church instituted , by her own hand ,, ,
The Pope says all protestant churches are their daughters they just had a family disagreement but the daughters still obey their mothers law in reguard to worship.. the Pope says that you can read the bible from genisis to revelation their is not one passage that authorizes the worship of sunday as the sabbath day . , listen closely THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CLAIMES THEY CHANGED THE DAY OF WORSHIP FROM SATURDAY THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK TO SUNDAY by their own authority and if it were not so , meaning if they had no authority to do this;; then those who claim to follow the bible would indeed return to when GOD HIMSELF ordained it at ceration/
THIS IS FOUND FRIEND in their own writings and its easily available to check it out.. WOULD PROTESTANT MINISTERS TODAY FOLLOW JESUS example or reject HIM// yes REJECT HIM !!! JUST AS THE ISREAITES OF OLD AND TODAY . FOR they are doing so repuntively right now today!!!! . paul stated to the galations if another person or an ANGEL were to come down from heaven and preach to you another gospel that you have not heard , meaning that which contradicts the writings found in the bible.. let them be accursed.. THAT i s clear , all INDEED ALL; EVERYONE ; WILL have to decide for themself wether they will OBEY GOD or man . IN the book ofr acts we have an account of the priests arresting peter and john and asking them not to preach in JESUS NAME [ NOW TOTAKE SOMEONES NAME MEANS ALSO YOU TAKE ON THEIR CHARACTERISTICS AS WELL. } they said we can but obey GOD himself rather than man ,{ I SPEAKING IN A PARAPHRASE AND NOT EXACT WORDS HERE }. ITS clear though that when mans laws interfear with what GOD has bid us to do this is when we have to take astand IS IT BETTER to give into mans dictates or will u then stand up for what is right and say WE WILL FOLLOW THE COMMANDS BY OUR GOD john and peter were whipped and set free but they sang praises to be worthy to suffer for the name of JESUS.,

You know what? I think they WOULD have a problem with Him. I think they'd think He was a nut or a heretic and try to lock him up. Good question; real thought-provoker.
