This morning I accidentally sat on my girlfriend's cat & killed it. I had just got out of the shower & I wasn't wearing my contacts. Recently I've put on a few pounds and I guess I was too heavy for SPRINKLES. My girlfriend gets off of work at 5:00 and I'm scared to death. Should I pretend SPRINKLES died of natural causes???

6:26 pm- I told my girlfriend the truth. She said it was ok that I killed her cat since she's been sleeping around behind my back. She said we could call it even. I think I'm moving out tonight. Thanks for your input everybody.

Very funny! Poor cat lol! Why is SPRINKLES spelled with capital letters? How are you gonna convince your girlfriend that the flat cat died of natural causes?

I'd really like to know how you managed to sit on the cat in the first place 1) without it getting out of the way and 2) without you noticing...

Well, if you have morals and stuff that compel you to tell the truth, then tell the truth. You're going to have to sooner or later, right? And in the long run, your GF will appreciate that you told the truth when you had every opportunity to lie.

On the other hand, if the cat shows no external symptoms of being squashed, and if you're GF is very unlikely to order an autopsy or eventually find out the real story, you might as well go the "natural causes" way. If she sees that you're really nervous/broken up/etc, attribute it to the shock of discovering the deceased.

And in either case, be prepared to deal with a hysterical, grieving woman. If she's had that cat for a while, there's going to be a broken bond there that'll need time and love to heal. Don't suggest a new cat right away!! Pamper your girl, hold her, let her cry on your shoulder, and eventually she'll get over it. Things die everyday, but it can be very hard to accept the death of a loved one, human or animal.

Hope this helps.

I hope you're just joking, since I'm an extreme animal lover, but if you are serious, you have to make things right. Put the cat in a shoe box and prepare a funeral for it - she will appreciate your caring. . Make arrangements to buy her a new kitten to fill in the void that Sprinkles will leave. Telling her the truth is up to you. You could take the easy way out, but you have to live with the guilt. If you tell her the truth, you have to convey how sorry you are for this accident.

and you probably did not even seem on the bag? she would be able to probable hate your guts... yet you will desire to probable tell her. an analogous cat concept won't artwork, because of the fact she probable is conscious her cat like the decrease back of her hand. or you may make it appear as if an twist of destiny, yet that would desire to require desecrating the adverse cat's physique, and that i'm against that. you will desire to probable commence not lacking her now, and rake up the midsection to stand her... and her parents... and the different siblings that she would have. There rather isn't any way out of this the place you 2 are nevertheless mutually, except she loves you unconditionally. and that i'd deliver some thing to apply as a look after or protection against her wrath. reliable success! :)

The truth is always the best way to go, she will understand if she truly loves you and she will know that you tell the truth no matter what. Making up a lie is never a good idea. People that lie forget what they lied about and sooner are later there lies catch up with them. I'm sorry to say that when I first read your question I had to laugh. The poor cat. Godbless, DonnaG

You have all day to think about how to comfort her. Tell her the truth, if not it will come back to bite you in the butt (no pun intended). Maybe for a Christmas gift, you could get her a new kitty. I know it won't take the place of Sprinkles, but it will surely help heal the hurt she will experience.

You know your girlfriend better than me, if you think she can handle the truth tell her, if she's gonna flip out and go crazy...well maybe you shouldn't even be with her, but really, if not telling her the truth could help HER out, then consider turning it into a run away cat story or something....hahahahahaha

Yes tell her it died of natural causes. But call her and tell her what happened. ie you found the cat dead. She will probably run home from work if she can. But she will love you for calling her with this important news. Dont wait until she gets home because she will ask why you didnt tell her. Hope it works out.

call her before she gets off work and tell her you have good news and bad news when she gets home. Go to the pound and pick up a kitten!!! When she gets home tell her about the cat but present her with the kitten. NO GIRL CAN BE THAT MAD WHEN THERE ARE KITTENS INVOLVED!!!!
