Don't worry Jasmine - things will calm down again as always.

This section mirrors the situation on the ground, with periods of bitter tit-for-tat attacks followed by periods of relative calm.

Here in cyberspace, the stormy times offer the chance for people to vent their resentments, and the quiet times provide an opportunity to learn to understand one another better.

All of which can be good, so long as we don't get too upset by what others say. Which means we all need to try to be a bit less sensitive when discussing such contentious issues, and to simply ignore idiots like Franco who spout blatant lies.

Londoner In Israel

Edit to Paperback: My fence is a state-of-the-art plastic-coated one, with not a splinter in sight. I could happily stay up here forever in blissful comfort, and there's plenty of room for anyone else who wants to join me watching the show...

I will whole-heartedly oblige you, paperback, and condemn Franco's comments. For me personally, when someone is that idiotic in their comments, I just hit the thumbs down and go on with life. Maybe that's the approach we should all take. Try not to let your emotions get the best of you, guys.

I have tried to ask questions which would have a bridge-building nature, but I guess most people are more interested in spouting off. Perhaps if each of us who is interested in thoughtful dialogue and mutual education and understanding could ask a really thought-provoking and non-judgemental question today, then we could see who is interested in dialoguing and who wants to rant.

Indeed. Lately, statements like Franco's, above, have been considered a "legitimate criticism" of Israel and Jews in this section. Heavens to Betsy if I should denounce what he said and thereby become a "Zionist bully" who doesn't let people express their "opinions" -- like that Jews drink blood, for instance.

Paperback: I am also sickened by this section to the point of not wanting to come back. I think I'll go on my merry way at this point. Between the Holocaust denial and statements that hating Jews is okay because Jews aren't Semites and all the other crap, I just don't think it's worth it. "Dialogue"? What dialogue?

I am lambasted constantly for producing solid verifiable fact and then B proceeds to say to Paperback, "praising ultra for being a racist f*ck"- Hark whose talking, B. You've got nothing to say, so you must resort to profanity. What are you? Some little 10 year old boy who picked up a little book on cuss words and decided to go have fun with it? Jeez. I'm not the racist, If I produce facts that everyone knows is true- even if you deny them. You should talk B, last week or a few days ago I saw a post in which you said about Adolf Hitler "at least there were some very good things about him, like his policy towards zionists." And yes, you will deny it, of course. But a reminder, if you want to be taken seriously, kindly refrain from the vulgar language.

Arguments are here not just these days, are you new here? Maybe not, but i am here long time ago for more than 6 months when it was only 4 questions in here. It's just some are misbehaving everywhere not just here . Have fun.

Perhaps the We is becoming a small minority. Suddenly other people are tired of watching and are joining in.
I don't know if you have looked but this is the only site with This particular war going on.
I haven't found anyone bad mouthing each other so openly, except the atheist site. R&S
Maybe as Annapolis gets closer?

For those of you - B - who stated that anti Jewish sentiment does not exist any longer, just read the first answer to this post.

To Jasmine: yes, this forum is getting nasty. We have people like ABC saying that Hitler 'was not guilty' and then he makes up rubbish about Israel that we all know is not true. Note, no links ever provided.

I think I'm going to take a break from this section. I'm sure many people here will be happy to hear this!

TO EVERY MUSLIM IN THIS SECTION

- so where are you all, then, to denounce the remark by Franco? Are any of you even going to try and argue that his comment is not cruel and racist? JUST FOR ONCE practise what you preach and STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. SHOW FRANCO AND ALL LIKE HIM THAT JEWS AND MUSLIMS WILL NOT PUT UP WITH RACISM EITHER DIRECTED AT THEMSELVES OR EACH OTHER

And the result is a deafening silence from the Muslim faction...

REDISCA

I empathise. I do hope you'll be contributing to other forums on YA though, maybe politics or religion - I admire your answers. This section is going to become just one big rant.

I'm going to defect to the politics section. Hope to see you there :)

EDIT TO B

That's right B, totally ignore the fact that this morning you insisted racism against Jews was a thing of the past. Don't spend ONE SINGLE SECOND condemning Franco's remark! Instead, just get angry with me - when I have never said a single nasty word about either Islam or Muslims!

B, you could have at least denounced Franco's comment while writing your response. Shame, shame on you.

And FYI, I never praised Ultra for saying anything 'racist'. He provided info in response to many people claiming that Jews had a good life in Islamic countries. He detailed what really happened: how is that 'racism'? You don't even know the meaning of the word, clearly.

Oh, so now we learn that B APPROVES OF WHAT HITLER DID TO THE JEWS?

Nice, B. Don't you dare have the nerve to lecture us: we do nothing but express facts while all you do is condone racism and support the Nazi policy. You utter, utter hypocrite. The fact that you answered this post and did not EVEN say ONE WORD CONDEMNING FRANCO'S COMMENT: that says it all.

MUSLIM BY CHOICE

You are a credit to your faith. Thank you for doing the decent thing ,and for doing it so graciously :)

LONDONER IN ISRAEL

If you perch on that fence any longer, you will get splinters in your bum.

LAST EDIT TO MIMI

I did NOT 'twist' your words. Shanti also has stated that he saw your call Israelis 'monsters'.

Here's an idea: let's you and I just block each other, OK Mimi? We can never agree. So that will be better. You block me, I'll block you, neither of us talk to each other. OK?

I kind of liked the debates at first, but now things ARE getting out of hand.

Absolutely right.

It was a wonderful feeling to walk right past the Israeli soldiers without their recognizing me.

Long live Falastin.

Down with the Zionist entity.
