okay, iv got a challenge for you:

if you can provide an argument for why any other god doesnt exist, that cant also be used to disprove the existance of your own god, then i will never ask stupid questions on the religion section again!

however, if you cant prove other gods to not exist (especially you christians) then you are also proving your own gods wrong, as he apparently said something about their being only one god, so go for it, step up to the challenge!

i think iv proved a point here, none of you seem to know enough about what you believe in to argue with someone who admitadly knows nothing

Great question.

I am thinking back to when I was a devout believer and I don't know how I would answer this question.

I guess i would start by looking at the bible as God's inspired word and thus proof of his existence, but other religions also have 'inspired' text.

Then I would think about miracles, but other religions claim that there are/were miracles performed by their Gods, we would just call them Satanic to write them off.

Then I guess I would have to talk about changed lives and personal testimony, only to realized that every other religion relied on the same.

Its a tough realization, God has done NOTHING to distinguish Himself from Zeus, Neptune, Thor, RA or Leprechauns. Why is that?

At the end of the day, reliance on any deity at the expense of the rest is very risky, if you have to believe in God, which puts the burden of proof, directly on the One/Seven true God's shoulders.

so yes Jesus said the Judges are like gods and so are we and we humans give godlike power to false idols in the old days it was statues now its cars money status ideas things not always tangible the things still have a god like rule over us because we fully submit and commit ourselves to the things sometimes unaware..my husband religiously worships Halo 3..and i try to explain that he gives Master Chief more time than he does God..which is a form of adultery(unfaithfulness to the one true God) and idolatry (religious worship of game or idol) all wrapped up.

Now God will be God whether you believe in Him or not! Simply put the fact that some deny Him does not make Him any less real. End of story.

God said 'Thou shalt have no other Gods before me', 'Let US make man in OUR image' and stuff like that. Unfortunately there is no way to prove the existence of only one god. When he siad there was only one god, he meant only one god for 'his people'. He'd already acknowledged the existence of other gods.

Religion is all about Faith.

Faith is something that stand without proof.

I have faith in God, therefore, to me he is real and he exists.

There is no point in trying to "prove" anything, it is actually pretty ridiculous.

Then again, I HAVE heard people try... but why do people need to PROVE their beliefs anyway? Do we need to PROVE that slavery is wrong? I mean, I think belief is enough.

an interesting phenomina indeed. while I cant give you a certain answer, the testimonies given to the catholic God are far greater numerous and less critisized than any other "god or goddess" in history.
