I don't know other countries but in Turkey specially when i was at high school it was a trend to prepare many questions and prepare a notebook one page actor,actress,singer photos and one page to answer the questions.
We used to give this notebook to our friends, guys or girls that we liked. There were kind of questions like yahoo answers questions (what would you bring to an island, what are your fave colors, pets etc..) and the last question was always "what do you think about this notebook's owner".
I had one and it is like a sacred notebook now:-)))) I look back and i laugh at the answers given.
I admit that the first answer i checked was "what do you think about this notebook's owner" lol lol lol lol

Instan, we had in High School what was called the High School Album,with pictures of every student and teachers. everyone that wanted would write in yours or you in theirs something you like about the person or friend maybe, then smile! We had poetry books but that was in elementary school, on one side your friends would draw a picture and on the other side they would write a small poem!!
They are very sacred to me too and I kept them all!

We had them here in the US, but we called them "Slam Books". I remember everyone and I mean everyone listing the exact same song as their favorite song "Beth" by KISS

some of my friends did, but I never kept one. they were prepared so cunningly that the girl or boy you fancied would have to give a hint whether the feeling was mutual. as for other kids who anwered the questions, well they just couldn't give it to only one person, could they :)

I admit, I had one. I hate the day that bright (!)idea of having one occurred to me :).
The boy that I adored wrote I would look pretty - emphasis on pretty; not PRETTIER!!!- if I didn't wear glasses.
FYI, I still wear them :D :D :D
