Why is it that when drivers qualify for a rce, and gets the pole he starts on the inside lane....because its a better starting spot?
But during the race a caution comes out and lap cars get to start on the inside lane? not the leaders fault hes winning, but has to deal with idiots to pass to get back up front

The driver on the pole can actually choose inside or outside line. Its just that you want to be on the inside going into the 1st turn so they choose that line.

On cautions its to give the guys who are a lap down the preferred line in hopes that they can race their way back onto the lead lap.

Nascar rules are: whatever we say at any given time, at any given race! Cautions can be for a hot-dog wrapper...or we let them race with 20 cars crash and burning! Speeding on Pit row: Depends on how Nascar views a particular driver that, particular moment, but their speed on pit row has absolutely nothing to do with being penalized for that infraction. Only a complete moron will not admit what is so blantant, since the death of Dale Earnhardt NASCAR is controlled entertainment, instead of sport! Nascar dictates the winner of each race, through a series of decisions from tech inspection to cautions, penalties and punishment handed out during qualifying and the races. All drivers exceed the pit road speed limit, but they are penalized through a selective process! Ask Nascar to put up a screen that shows each car's speed on pit row that can be electronically displayed automatically! Nascar will tell you NO! Some go 65 mph in a 55 mph pit row speed, no penalty....some go 58 mph in a 55 mph pit row speed and are penalized! This is how they control this entertainment industry.....the sport of racing died with Dale Earnhardt! NASCAR is a billion dollar plus entertainment corporation...masking itself as NASCAR racing of past years! Nascar rules, Nextel rules...does not matter....its all as phony as pro-wrestling! It has a controlled outcome!

Yah the inside is always the fastest, in some scenarios, and your lap it is stupid but its just to close up the field, not to have cars half the three quarters of a lap back, that just gets boring, its just the tighten things up

nextel suks, but they do that to get the lap down cars a chance of getting laps back, attempt to keep the race tight, just the way it is

The other poster summed it up quite nicely
and those are NASCAR rules, not Nextel.

the pole sitter can pick which lane he wants to start in... outside or inside.
most pick the inside b/c it's the fastest way through the first turn (usually)
