can you get fired even if your provide a medical exuse

Not a tax question.

However, employment in the US is considered "at will" unless you have an explicit employment contract. As such, either party can terminate the relationship at any time and without explanation or reason.

You still have a obligation to contact the employer when you are not going to be there. If this is your first time doing that then they are usually pretty lenient but if you were fired then mabye this is not the first time?

If the medical note is forged, altered, xeroxed or raises suspicion - you can get fired for false documentation to further a false claim.

A medical excuse does not prevent the company legally from firing you.

Even a doctor's not is not an excuse for not calling, unless you were passed out.
